5htp at night, exercise, theragun to massage my neck and shoulders to remove the stiffness, and meditate for 10-15 mins before sleeping. Usually works, doesn’t remove the stress entirely but enough to let me sleep for 7+ hours
I used to have this issue too. For me, it starts with the end of the work day. I think about what things will stress me out with work and I write them down on my to do list for tomorrow so I’m not thinking about them all night. Then I have a bedtime routine. I try and cut out screens ~1 hr before I go to bed. I wash my face and do nighttime skincare routine and charge my phone overnight in the bathroom. I try and read for 30 mins before bed, which generally will help me fall asleep. If my mind is still racing about things; I take some CBD. If I can’t fall asleep still, I pull my book back out to help settle my mind.
I’ve found the no phone in the bedroom and reading before bed thing to be super helpful.
I’ve been taking a non addictive sleep aid called Estrella PM for years. It helps me fall asleep and also get back to sleep if I wake up in the middle of the night. I wake up refreshed not fuzzy as with over the counter sleep aids. I take it an hour before bedtime, get in bed, mute my phone and read until I’m ready to fall asleep. It’s really important to develop a routine that you follow each night as others have said.
A humidifier and lavender spray on my pillow has been helping me. Also reading and being off my phone right before bed has started to get my mind to slow down for me to sleep.
