“How do you resolve conflict” interview question? I have 5 YOE and have never been part of a workplace conflict. I like to consider myself extremely easy to work with and I’ve been lucky to be part of teams with individuals that are really competent and easy to work with. I feel like this is a very generic interview question and I have no idea tbh how I would answer it - how would you respond?

My wife and I are considering relocating to a new city. I’ve been working with a recruiter who (I thought) gave me a good lay of the land. Which firms to meet with re lateral opportunities, which to avoid, etc. I’ve since spoken with a friend who has connections at other firms that could be a better fit. Do I bring in my recruiter or reach out through connections? Is using a recruiter beneficial to me, or am I better off on my own? How does their fee play in to what I could get as a package?

Has anyone bought/ done the HRCI Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion in HR Management? I already have my PHR, but I’m looking to gain more knowledge/skills and beef up my resume. Is it worth doing? The course is $239 and you get 12 Recert credits with it.

For in-house counsel roles, does firm prestige matter? For example, would the fact that an applicant is from Sullivan & Cromwell vs, say, White & Case matter at all, or is it much more about experience/interview? Kind of a new distance runner here (completed my first half mara last month) and am usually run on treadmill for workouts during the week. I also wear an Apple Watch. Have noticed that my Apple Watch tends to say I’ve run a longer distance, at a faster speed, than treadmill. (It’s usually up to 0.5 miles off and 0.5mph off in speed). Anyone experience this? A quick note about what I’ve experienced, in my decade long career, is the real advantage of MBB or FAANG - it gives you a shot at stretch roles that are outside your expertise. Not all the time or even most of the time compared to better candidates with specific experience for the role but gives you this wildcard shot at a vast array of opportunities.

If I just chill on the bench for long will I still only get fired at the end of the year?

Discussion post: I feel almost all consulting firms are the same. Mbb, big 4 etc. if you are paid enough there is probably less wlb. If there is good wlb there is not much money. Can you single out a company that you can confidently say pays very well and also has good wlb and also has good opportunities etc.?

M/SM and above, why do you label a meeting as “touch point” or ask if you can have a “quick chat” when it’s something serious? Millennials like us always assume we’re about to get fired - I actually have been laid off in a meeting with that title. But at my new job, my boss asked for a “quick chat” to literally ask me to change the title of a meeting and then chat about christmas. Now that I’m in management, I want to understand it better.
