“How do you resolve conflict” interview question? I have 5 YOE and have never been part of a workplace conflict. I like to consider myself extremely easy to work with and I’ve been lucky to be part of teams with individuals that are really competent and easy to work with. I feel like this is a very generic interview question and I have no idea tbh how I would answer it - how would you respond?

You lie. Think of a scenario where two people disagreed. Exaggerate it in your head and think what you would do. Now there’s your “conflict” story for the next 10 years.

like

I don’t think they mean it must be a significant conflict. Could be a disagreement if opinions over a decision.

If you’ve never had a single conflict in 5 years, I’d actually be worried that either you don’t pick up on tension or you’re a pushover…

likefunny

I had a job with nice people only had 1 conflict example from then. Last job I feel I didn’t have more because I was a pushover so I agree, until I got tired of that and then managed to create another conflict example for my interviews 😂

Agreed. Would be useful to cite examples in history but also compare the differences you’d experience in your invasion

like

Depends. Are you intermediary or part of the conflict? If intermediary I would focus on the personal reasons/motivation/drive behind each party’s view and what their resolution would be. If you are part of conflict, my suggestion would be to sleep on it and try to remove any feelings from the equation

My wife and I are considering relocating to a new city. I’ve been working with a recruiter who (I thought) gave me a good lay of the land. Which firms to meet with re lateral opportunities, which to avoid, etc. I’ve since spoken with a friend who has connections at other firms that could be a better fit. Do I bring in my recruiter or reach out through connections? Is using a recruiter beneficial to me, or am I better off on my own? How does their fee play in to what I could get as a package?

Currently I am trying to create network in linked in and naukari but still not getting the response from some companies like JP Morgan or mindtree etc.

Can u help me to understand what is the best way to create a network to some major companies.

I know applying directly to the company site mostly doesn't have any benefit or will take long time to schedule the interview.

Kind of a new distance runner here (completed my first half mara last month) and am usually run on treadmill for workouts during the week. I also wear an Apple Watch. Have noticed that my Apple Watch tends to say I’ve run a longer distance, at a faster speed, than treadmill. (It’s usually up to 0.5 miles off and 0.5mph off in speed). Anyone experience this? Not sure what to trust but assuming Apple Watch. Thoughts?

A quick note about what I’ve experienced, in my decade long career, is the real advantage of MBB or FAANG - it gives you a shot at stretch roles that are outside your expertise. Not all the time or even most of the time compared to better candidates with specific experience for the role but gives you this wildcard shot at a vast array of opportunities.

M/SM and above, why do you label a meeting as “touch point” or ask if you can have a “quick chat” when it’s something serious? Millennials like us always assume we’re about to get fired - I actually have been laid off in a meeting with that title. But at my new job, my boss asked for a “quick chat” to literally ask me to change the title of a meeting and then chat about christmas. Now that I’m in management, I want to understand it better.
