Hello Fishes,
Has anyone got call from management regarding back to office? My base location is Bangalore and management seems to be in progress of calling employees back to work approx after 18th April.
Does anyone have any idea what's the management decision about back to office? Is it confirmed or still planning?

When I went from remote back to office I wouldn't have minded going hybrid. I agree that a lot of what I do in the office I could do just as well remotely. But I also recognize there is value in the office environment. Thinking back years, I feel like I've learned so much just being around people in an office, and in a remote setting that learning by just being present can't happen.
All good points, I also feel that when I worked remotely I became super lazy and I need to get back to having order and discipline. I think 3 days in office would help get me back on track.
OP I will be honest, as a single woman it can be really lonely working from home full time. I have nobody to talk to but my cats hahah. I think working hybrid and being around people two days a week is better for my own mental health. its nice to be in the office two days a week.
Love to hear this, I have cats as well but me and my spouse live together and even though I’m more on the introvert side I do believe a hybrid schedule will give me that balance.
I think I’d like hybrid if we had flexibility on which days we’d be in office
That’s understandable
Were u hired as a office based employee? Were you productive then?
I was fully remote in all of my previous positions and can say that I was productive in all of them.
When you will work in the office, you'll be able to better do your job as an HR person. You will be more in tune with departmental dynamics and changes in staff morale, and your emotional intelligence when it comes to problem solving will increase.
As much as it's comfortable to work from home, working in the office within a hybrid arrangement offers the best of both worlds. What we do is about people, not just avatars behind screens.
I think overall HRG roles should be on-site to be a resource to employees. Hybrid makes sense.
I work two days in the office two days, and three remote-I think it’s the perfect ratio. My spouse works from home a lot, so it’s nice to give each other a break. I don’t like dealing with traffic, but it’s nice to interact with other people. And everyone goes in the same two days so we can have most meetings in person. It’s just personal preference though.
Remote is totally more productive for me, but I will say there’s a strength to being in the office from a relationship building standpoint. Probably even more so for HR-specific support.
I’d love if we could get to a place where either 1-2X/month were possible (knowing those days are for in-person meetings and not big “task days).
I think it really depends on the person and the company. I had a hybrid role ( 2 days in the office, 3 from home) before Covid and I loved the flexibility. But I found my days in the office often stretched into 10 hours as I tried to get as much done while on site as possible. It was a 40+ mile commute to the office so I couldn’t just sneak in for an afternoon. I went to work for a new company before Covid, fully on site role. We came back to the office early after Covid. While we had achieved a lot during Covid our VP didn’t believe in remote work and thought everyone was at home on the couch eating Cheetos and watching the price is right. So while there was still a national stay at home mandate we were back in the office all masked up.
I think everyone has their preferences and just need to look at the pros and cons of each situation. I've been working remotely for 3 years and absolutely loved it. I am more productive and at times find myself working more hours. I also save a lot of money by not having to pay for gas and I am able to sleep in a little longer. Recently I have accepted a position where I have to be in the office 1 day a week and I hate it. I am having to get up way early to be in the office at 8am and I find myself being exhausted by the time I get home. On top of that I am dealing with people coughing in the office and the building especially at a time where the covid cases are high.
How long is the commute for you? I think having to go into the office 1 day a week is awesome, it’s better than working 3 days on-site.
I miss seeing people. I have been working remotely since the pandemic and wouldn't be against working hybrid. I think you hear more about what is going on when you are in an office environment and people are more engaged.
I've been doing hybrid for over 2 years now and much prefer it - I appreciate the opportunity to be face to face with people (especially given my role) and I like the change of scenery.
Having you work in an office is a way for a company to keep you tied down by location and control. If I'm working remote and decide that I'd like to be in a different state for a few weeks, I can. As long as the work is getting done, there's no reason why there's a need to be in office. It's worse for the environment, it's worse on our wallets because we're required to commute, it's worse on our mental health and it's a waste of our time. I'd look for another position. The time and expense to commute into work lessens your salary as well. There are no pros if your job can be done without you physically needing to be there. If you WANT to be there because you're bored or lonely, have at it but it should not be required.
Treasure the job you have regardless of remote or in person! The TA/HR market is volatile and too many of us are unemployed - so hug your job if you have one!
I can work with flexibility in both terms but I feel more flexible in office
I would love it. We have never been remote. Maybe when you get back to the office you can negotiate 2 days in office and 3 days remote.
I will try!
I have worked fully remote since lockdown and now all staff are being forced back to the office full time. It is so much less productive from an office base, being able to do less than 50 percent. I feel it is wrong to force staff back full time when 100 percent of work can be done remotely, a lot more work gets done remotely, but bosses have an agenda and don’t care about productivity or a good work and home life balance. I have learnt so much from working from home, especially decision making and IT skills. This is forcing me to look elsewhere
