PTO Dilemma: I have over 100 hours of PTO remaining from hours carried over from last year that must be used before 12/31. I scheduled out days to use the hours. However, when I put my scheduled PTO in the Utilization Tracker, and include the Thanksgiving holiday and the Collective Disconnect days, I end up below my utilization target. How is that possible? Is it me or is there really something wrong with how utilization is calculated?-
What is the utilization rate based off of? 40hr/week? Or off of targeted annual hours (i.e. 2400 hours)?
All of the suggestions on how to maintain WLB fall to individuals - but ultimately if the firm keeps selling as much work as we’re selling, we can’t deliver if lots of folks reduce hours. Seems like a supply/demand mismatch. How can we empower our teams to prioritize WLB and also get all the work done, when utilization is still so high?
Lots of people think that utilization / changeability is a bullshit metric. What other metric do you propose to replace it?
Rental cars: any tips or recommendations from anyone to maximize value? Renting cars far more frequent now.. have utilized discount the firm’s discount codes and CSR codes for Avis, Enterprise, etc.
I think we need to expand utilization metrics into audit sabermetrics. Monthly reports showing: Average expletives per audit Review notes per workpaper Average cry time per day What others are good?
I recently found out that my male counterpart was being paid about 12% more than me. I have a CPA, he does not; however, his utilization was substantially better than mine. Any thoughts?
Calling all mortgage officers. What steps should I take to get approved for a FHA loan? (See below) I have a 10K charge off , $2k charge off (in dispute status), and 2 late payments from 2019. My utilization also 76%, but my DTI is very low. I have a 636 middle score and I have not been able to be approved automated or manually. I have received refer with caution, but the former lender I used can’t see what’s causing it in the system.
So shattered! Joined a consulting firm in March, to grow into B.Arch. role- only 400 hours of Utilization so far..3YOE in Strategy + Digital Transformation (contd.)
Pregnant ladies or ladies with kids, If you were still working when pregnant, did you manage to keep your workday up to truly 8+ hours and keep your utilization intact? Or, if you weren’t feeling well and stepped away, did you factor that into your timesheet?
Joined an industry job not long ago at Director level and I don’t have much to do. I did a couple short projects and probably am around 50% utilized on average. (I always made it clear when I had capacity so it’s not like I’m “hiding”) I spent the down time doing my own L&D. Is there anything I should be doing to get more work or is this normal?? I’m fine occupying myself, just worried about being deemed extraneous after I was hired
I moved from client facing/compliance to internal role (from one big 4 to another) and this is my second week. It is just so weird working 40 hours with no urgent emails/calls or fire drills and no utilization goals this time of year. I had 6 years of busy season so it’s just hard to get out of that mode I guess lolol
Question and it might not be my brightest, but why are so many people concerned about utilization? I’ve always been on bigger clients and staffed through-out the year. Do people not have staffing through out the year?
Is it normal to be “available” during the summer as an a2 going into a3, little nervous about utilization.
I recently switched firms and I got put on a project that basically has me working shifts at a call center. I feel like I made the wrong choice and I feel extremely under utilized
