Hi all. I just received an offer for $130k and will be eligible for about 29,000 shares of stock options. The vesting schedule is 1 year and then quarterly thereafter.

Can someone explain what this means? I “will be eligible”. So, I have to buy the shares? Should I be asking at what price?

First 2 years for CSR is about to be over, and I’m looking at the value of the card against the annual fee. Combined with my other cards (Chase Freedom Unlimited & Flex) and deducting the $300 travel fee, the net benefit is $76. Is that enough to justify keeping the card? The lounge access at airports were a nice benefit, never got to use it since my client travel was through Amtrak.

Do you consider college savings funds as part of your net worth? I can see why you would but then your net worth would decrease pretty quickly once your kid(s) go to college.

1099 or w-2 ? I have been given the option though the company prefers w-2. It’s a day rate booking couple of months or more (no end date). I already have 1099 from similar company this year and am leaning towards 1099, but I don’t want to be difficult. I do take home office deduction and they are not supplying any equipment. So I just moved to consulting after B school, and It's more money than I've made my entire life. After paying for rent and living expenses, I have 6000$ left over every month. My uncle does this (he’s a realtor) and usually gets 2-3x return. Obviously there is huge risk because property prices can change a lot in 1-2 years, but at the same time the upside is hard to ignore.

Went into a multi family property 50/50 with a relative against my gut. Things are going horrible. Need to get out. Best options? Buy him out? Having trouble selling my (retired) dad's house. It needs a lot of work, but has great character. What if I buy it myself for a low, low price? Then I would be able to get a FHA 203k loan to do the updates. Rent it out or put it back on the market in the spring.

I'm early in my career, managed to save $30K to invest, and want to get my hands dirty with a rental property without too much risk (e.g. no HML/flipping). It sounds like that's a tall order in the NY/CT area given the prices, not to mention whether I'd be able to get a mortgage on anything below $100K, but I figure I'll give it a shot anyway. Any advice on what you might do in my position? Am I being crazy with this idea?

From a financial standpoint in this market, which would be a better approach in Austin -

1. Buy a ~8-850k house that meets most of our ideal criteria (size, schools, interiors etc) to stay long term

2. Buy a ~5-550k house that’s not ideal with the plan of moving into an ideal home in 4-5 years when kid is ready for school.

How easy is it to get a mortgage for the second home?

Got an agent and she was useless for finding good tenants. Got frustrated and finally started finding leads myself and closing on one soon. I have signed a contract with the agent for paying one months rent as fee. How can i fight this or as he has been literally of zero value add? I will ofcourse ask nicely but wanted to see if i have any other options!
