I’ve lived here 2 years plus frequent visit for the 4 years prior (LDR). I plan on being here for another 5-10, before eventually moving closer to my aging parents in SoCal. Absolutely plan on starting a family here, and if not for the obligation to take care of parents, would be here indefinitely.
Curious what you mean by “the way things are going”?
Been here 7 yrs. Will be here until I’m happy with where my career is at (estimating 10 to 15 years). Plan to start a family in the mean time. Only surviving for now because both wife and I work relatively high paying jobs. Thinking about moving out of state maybe later in life when I want to trade off money for more freedom with my time.
Rising Star
Lived here for a year, love it so far and definitely will stick around for a few more but long term there's no way I could justify the cost of living here. My dollar would go 2x or 3x more in other parts of the US (and yes, there are other places with good weather)
Wife and I are expecting our first. Although I think some of the areas surrounding the city are great for families (Fremont, San Jose, etc.), we moved considering we found other markets offering better quality of life for young families. We were not lovers of city life, but I know many people who raised kids in the city just fine.
Moved to the South Bay and it’s a life saver. Cheaper, cleaner, more affordable access to better schools
The South Bay is the place to be!!!!
Here for less than a year and would be happy to move to NY unless SF pick up again in terms of city life. Love the weather and outdoor here but think I will get bored in <5yrs. Would not object to raising children in SF though if I can afford it. (And that I do decide to have kids)
Been here about 1 month with my gf. We both like it, it’s fun, better weather and more stuff to do than where we moved from. We probably will move after 1 year though.
Been here 16 years, still love it. We're not planning on kids, so that isn't part of our calculus, but I actually think SF is a great place to raise young kids because they will be exposed to lots of diverse experiences, people and situations that will help teach them humanity and compassion for others (more challenging when you need to start thinking about the quality of schools) . We've been flirting with getting a pied a terre somewhere else though, which would probably be NYC, DC or Chicago.
15 years and forever. South Bay though - I don’t like the city. Cold, chaotic, difficult to park, etc.
