Please go, medical facilities are taking tons of precautions. Trust me, I have had dozens of medical visits during covid. A mammo detected aggressive breast cancer for me. I had missed my mammo the previous year and always wonder if things would have been less worse had I gone for a check up the previous year and the cancer was caught earlier.
I’m glad to hear your treatment was successful!
Got mine in December, and there were lots of HEPA air filters and social distancing and I felt safe in my mask and glasses. Definitely get one, especially if you have anyone in your family who has had breast cancer or if you’ve had any indicators of concern before. The amount of delayed diagnosis, leading to a worse prognosis, for lung and breast cancers is so sad.
Masks have been proven to work. So long as you and your health facilities are abiding by health and safety guidelines (that includes masks) you should be fine. Best not to delay — you may end up needing more medical care in a pandemic so the point then will have been made in vain.
Try to get it done in a hospital vs. a stand alone radiology center. The difference is amazing. I was just at the latter for an MRI and was appalled by the crowds and lack of HEPA air scrubbers. A previous MRI was done at a hospital and it was comforting not to see crowds. Also, HEPA air scrubbers everywhere.
If it's in s hospital, you should be fine. Please do not put this off.
My gynecologist recommends annual paps regardless. It depends on the individual. In this case, I take my doctor's counsel over google.
Regardless, the OP was asking about annual mammograms, which absolutely shouldn't be skipped.
Annual mammograms are also unnecessary for many. I’m speaking from recent scientific research and my own informed doctors, not google.
You really don’t need one every year if your last pap was normal and you’re in a certain age group. Annual paps are the old way. Google is your friend.
Shouldve been clearer, sorry. Mammograms are also not necessary every year for everyone. Glad all is well!
