There are far bigger things to be frustrated about. Phone policy isn't horrible.

like

No, the phone policy IS horrible. And yes there most certainly are other things to complain about. Including the phone policy.

like

You're right it's not, but raises, bonuses etc are all shit

Verizon has $45 dollars for unlimited data on 4 lines. Should be less for 1 line. Each smart phone line is $20 per month. Insurance on a phone is $10 a month. EY reimburses $60 per month for your phone. If you make specific international calls or use your phone overseas that is reimbursed not subject to a cap. So, how much more than $60 is your phone bill? You may want to go to your provider and see why your phone bill is so high. Also, how much do you use your phone for business compared to personal use?

like

At least you have one stfu

And we don't even get one...

You technically cannot use the money towards a phone on the bill.

EY OP - I see the gripe is you want EY to buy you a phone. Firms that do that require you to hand it in when you leave; Is that what you want? EY may then also keep your cell phone number upon separation from the firm. If not have fun with the firm you just left and the phone company porting that number over. They also would then have control over what you install on your phone and would put a filter on what you can do on the Internet - because the firm owns the phone. Is that what you want?

@EY4 you can get phone insurance expensed?

Can someone point me to some material where I can read about profit sharing vs 401k. I get the concept, but I am trying to understand is 10% profit sharing vested over 5 years better than an employee 401k match of 6%?

From my understanding 10% PS is better because it’s just a standard 10% on top of whatever I contribute though it takes 5 years to vest. Does this mean if I leave before 5 years I don’t get any of it?

I am prior military and went to law school. I had a family to take care of while I was a student, hence I went as fast as possible to get to a paycheck, graduating in 2 years, and bypassing the standard summer clerkships. How could I get some experience strictly remote? I am w-2 working as an accountant in healthcare, have passed the bar and am working on my CPA license (studying starts at 3 am, then work FT). I would like to eventually hang a shingle as a tax lawyer, but need experience. TIA!

Are there any lawyers that moved to healthcare tech (non-legal related positions)? That would include medical devices, AI, robotics, etc. Would love to learn from your experience.

Parents always wanted me to become a doctor, so did I. However, did not do very well around blood. :))

Generally curious how many companies offer phone reimbursement? My last gig did not but the current one does. Legally it seems, all employers are required to do so if we use our phone in literally any capacity (video call, slack, teams, emails etc). How prevalent is the issue of not reimbursing phone dues?

I'm early in my career, managed to save $30K to invest, and want to get my hands dirty with a rental property without too much risk (e.g. no HML/flipping). It sounds like that's a tall order in the NY/CT area given the prices, not to mention whether I'd be able to get a mortgage on anything below $100K, but I figure I'll give it a shot anyway. Any advice on what you might do in my position? Am I being crazy with this idea?
