Hi Fishers, I want to pivot my career into management consultant. I am currently working as a Market research analyst with 1 YOE. Can someone please suggest me how or where should I start to build my career in management consulting at Big 4.
Also, please suggest entry level jobs that I will be eligible for with skills in Strategy, primary and secondary research, and competitor analysis.
Thanks in advance!

Nope. Play along. Do everything on the PIP to the letter. Use your leave to find a better fit, but focus 💯 on staying on through your leave. Be contrite, be enthusiastic, ask questions and make sure the feedback/PIP goals are concrete.
No. Do not trust.
I second @VP1. Do everything you can to stay through the end of mat leave and interview the whole time you are out. Depending on what state you are in, you are a protected status once you tell them you are pregnant (although I have known women to still be fired or let go) and that will put you in a safer position to show top performance. Good luck! Also, congrats on the pregnancy!
Tell them you are pregnant. Protected status in CA
Did you feel like the negative performance review was unfounded? If so, compile your receipts (email exchanges, documents, successful projects, etc. — anything that will serve as evidence toward building a positive case for yourself) and think about who else you can go to. Have you received any warnings before now, or did this come out of nowhere? Assuming your direct supervisor was the one who gave you the negative performance review. Do they know that you’re pregnant? Do you think they’re trying to push you out because of that? It is unclear from your post, but that would be a totally different situation.
I wouldn't trust anyone but yourself. Is it worth pursuing both options (creating your improvement plan and job hunting) or are you worried that a new job won't have the maternity leave coverage you are looking for? What is your gut telling you to do?
