I’ve had 4 children but not in the same work situation as you. Still, I would recommend a simple, professional email along the lines of ‘I wanted to let you know that I’m pregnant and due by [date]. I would like to continue working until [date]. If you want to discuss this at any point, please let me know. I could come in a bit early one day so we could talk in person.’
My question to you is, don’t you think it’s a little risky to let them know now when you will likely have a fair few months of working to go? And being casual, aren’t you worried they’ll just stop rostering you? And if they don’t ever see you, it seems like you could wait? There’s no requirement that I’m aware that you need to tell them now (or by a certain time) I’m just thinking the longer you wait, the better for you. Otherwise you could find yourself in a situation of having to find work while obviously pregnant and you might struggle. Nobody needs the added stress when you’re busy creating a new human! All the best, wishing you a smooth and happy pregnancy and entry into motherhood! 🩷
