First of all, you’ve been at your job for a while the grass isn’t greener out there in sales. If you are really going to leave note that an average length in a sales role is two years companies out there now are revolving doors turning reps quick literally out with the old in with new and younger Some not even experienced But trainable And based on who you know. It’s very sad for the customers too…
Not in my company. The sales teams stay. Customer service is a revolving door and so are management teams, but sales people who make it the first year tend to stay a while. Some move up through the ranks and life happens, but it's not uncommon to have a large senior sales staff. Some offices have gotten poached bc they preform well together. After covid stuff changed and we lost a lot of people for lots of reasons. But I'm in my 11th or 12th year idk. We have an ok base, most are paid btw $20 to $30/hr plus commission that bring in usually an added 100k to 250k a yr. Once you reach yr 5 you have roughly 6 weeks of combined pto and holiday, 401k only matches 3% and the health insurance is so expensive for a family plan that the company could do so much better on those fonts but it's comfortable. We aren't in sales that make us millionaires. You'd have to go into another industry for that or move up through higher positions. But I still keep in touch and am friendly enough with pple who left, enough to have them share copies of their pay stubs and if im ever leaving I know what company I'm hitting up and what friends to call.
In a similar situation as you, been applying for months and very out of place with the modern job hunt dynamic. It feels very Sisyphean, like I’m rolling that heavy rock of customizing a resume and cover letter for jobs which would be a very natural transition, only to be not even invited to a first interview, while also getting recruiters banging down my door for very stretch fit kinds of jobs for half the money I make now. Is the job market real right now? Or just a smokescreen to keep us in our place?
I spent a thousand dollars on a so called resume expert( supposedly the best in Melbourne to write resume and do linkedin. Result NOTHING NOT EVEN ONE RESPONSE. Be careful who you get to do it.
Do you meet the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion requirements?
You sound bitter about something. Maybe you should work that out on a non job site
Good luck, brave decision! I also paid pro to help me with the resume and linked in, the only result is my confidence boos, not the number of interviews....
