Everyone go to bed and stop posting about layoffs.
I disagree with the statement by IBM1. The company is going through a pretty large transformation and unfortunately that requires a restructuring in the workforce. Europe has traditionally been a place where people joined and remained their entire careers (similar to most of IBM). It’s not possible nor does it make business since to continue to keep a workforce that may not have the skills necessary or want to learn to operate in todays business environment. SAP is a very in demand skillset and take initiative to serve clients best you can and you’ll do well! Best of luck once you join!
Don’t be scared but be aware that it happens, often, and IBM is aggressively de-investing in Europe. You shouldn’t aim to stay at IBM longer than a year or two anyway, take advantage of less responsibilities and good WLB to do interview prep. FWIW I worked in Benelux region only 3 years ago and not a single person I worked with is still employed by IBM today.
Because IBM is desperate. We get no pay rises or bonuses, unlike B4. Just go into it with both eyes wide open, the company has been in a heavily publicised terminal decline for a decade. You’d have to live under a rock to not know this.
