I am thinking about taking a job at a cybersecurity company as an SDR. I am switching from real estate to tech sales. I know SDR is entry level and I am a little hesitant to take the position because I am almost 30. I am wondering if anyone else has taken the role mid-career and how it went for you? Was it worth working through to get into higher levels of a tech company?

I don’t have the experience you’re looking for necessarily but, why not just apply for AE positions? Make the resume all stats based and how you can close. From what I’ve heard, it’s not the easiest thing in the world but it definitely can and has been done. But (in my possibly applicable advice) if you’re sold on SDR, at least make sure 60% (or more) are hitting quota and if it’s a winning product. Cyber is tough as is bc so many products out there already and IT can be tough to talk to. If I had your experience, I would rather be an AE and make 90k base (or more) and get hung up on than and SDR and get hung up working with kids just out of college. Just my two cents

Also there is a free course from a sales guy I found on Reddit. Super in depth and goes over what websites to find salary information, company information, resume examples and templates, interviewing and everything in between. I use it and it’s legitimately free and helping me get a job I actually want. If you want DM me and I’d be more than happy to send over

Can you do this information please!

Yes. Make the move, long term it’ll pay off.

Late to the post but I changed industries at 32. Moved into a BDR role and I’m happy with the change. Most companies will want the title before moving into an AE role, but I have learned so much in this role already.

Hello, Need an advice on my offer from Deloitte. My current company will file H1 for me. I got an offer for a consultant role at D with 25$k extra than my current salary and 10$k sign in bonus but I am currently working as a Sr Con. Is it advisable to take a risk in my case considering H1 as a priority?

When negotiating Salary, do you mention Glassdoor, Levels.fyi, or a separate source? Or neither?? Looking at a role I’m currently a candidate for and the discrepancy of pay between Glassdoor and Levels.fyi is absurd (IE Glassdoor average salary is almost 40K higher than Levels.fyi) Glassdoor also has more “data points”, for lack of a better term, than Levels.fyi for this role.

Thoughts??

Please help! I’m a CRC who manages Investigator- led clinical research projects and I want to transition to a PM role in industry (I would slightly prefer not a PM role in clinical trials since I don’t have clinical trial experience.) I’ve applied to PM roles at many biotech companies (e.g. Charles River, ICON, Paraxel) but only got 1 interview which didn’t work out. Which companies should I look to for an entry level PM role? Any good startups to consider? Anyone have any insight or advice?

I got an offer in UBS pune with 20 lakh fixed CTC for AO role, plus 80k shift allowances + 2.5 lakh relocation.

YOE - 13 years. This is my first switch.

Current location Chandigarh, UBS asking for joining in Pune office, Capgemini asking for Remote joining.

What company shall I choose. Please advice

Additional Posts in Business Development Reps (BDRs and SDRs)

Top SDRs oftentimes don't sound like traditional salespeople when cold calling. They use a very casual voice tone.

Here are a few tips:

1. Avoid upward inflections at the end of sentences. This makes it sound like everything you ask is a question
2. Slow down and eliminate buzzwords. Speaking fast makes you sound nervous and less confident
3. Avoid reading from a script - internalize your message and put it into your own works so you sound like YOU!

Thoughts? What are your top tips?
