Wouldn’t say it’s a mercy promotion as much as it’s fear of discriminating
I don’t think that’s true. I’m a director with 3 kids and never felt like I got any special treatment as compared to my peers or teammates without kids. No one is expecting a parent to work 60 hours while a non parent works 80. Everyone has flexibility and if you are a non parent and choose not to exercise that, that’s your fault. For the most part, team members who are parents work just as many if not more hours as everyone else.
I’m glad that’s your experience and quite frankly that’s how it should be. But don’t say it’s not true because you haven’t experienced it. Apparently some of us have and it’s not ideal.
I’ve experienced this and I agree! It also put so so so much pressure on the Senior cause the execs let them leave early, work less hours, take all kind of time off at any time, and generally held to a lesser standard than other Staffs without kid(s)…..the Senior also has to pick up the slacks.
EY2 - you are missing the point here. No one said it was easy. Just like OP said, other people should not have to do more because some people are doing less due to the lifestyle they choose. This has nothing to do with taking time off properly or for emergencies. It’s more so just continuously doing less while others have to work late and harder to fill the spot.
Hot take: this is a good thing
