I don't know the right/appropriate way to ask this question, but here goes:

Does anyone else run into interviews where the resume reads perfectly to a native English speaker, but then during the screen call, the candidate struggles to put together a full sentence?

I've run into resumes that have (for lack of a better word) Caucasian names, but the person on the other side is obviously of foreign descent.

They typically ask about drug screens and fingerprinting (which we don't do)

I have and I do think there is some element of fraud happening here. It’s been almost painful to try and understand these candidates. And also I’ve noticed they all seem to have google phone numbers and there is a SIGNIFICANT lag time from when I ask a question to when they answer. Significant. Which indicates to me it is an offshore number OR someone is listening in and providing them with the correct answers.

I experience this issue a lot especially in the Mulesoft world. Thank goodness we had video interviews and was able to identify the fraudulent candidates better.

This has happened to me a number of times in the last few weeks, and I'm wondering if people are trying to commit fraud? Are they trying to play the game and advertise themselves as "desirable" white male candidates on paper?

This is very confusing, and I wonder if anyone else has seen something like this?

This happened to me recruiting Salesforce developers. In retrospect there are signs. Perfect resume but few connections.

We asked them to interview through speaker not headphones.

The scam is to get a ringer hired and collect a check. It will take a couple of weeks before anyone finds out. Then the ringer quits. Ringer then gets a cut and scammer the bulk of the take. It’s too small to prosecute.

Also a lot of foreign born people use American (not Caucasian) names bc of the widespread bias so it’s good to be careful there.

But a sign is when the name is ridiculous like Dirk Diggler where someone would have said something somewhere.

We interviewed a great candidate, extended a verbal offer and she accepted. We sent the written offer a few days ago but she hasn’t opened it or accepted (it’s expiring tomorrow). Have you ever had to follow up? How did you handle it? My company is small with no HR, so I have to handle the hiring myself.

Protocol for responding (or not) to unsolicited emails from recruiters to your work email? In other words, is it acceptable to just ignore without a response? Or do you prefer to keep the line open with a brief “thanks for thinking of me, I am not interested at this time but hope we can collaborate in the future.”

Hey All,
I finished a third round interview, and HR contacted me that afternoon saying I had positive feedback across the board and they would contact me the next day regarding next steps. It’s been two days and they finally get back to me saying they haven’t been able to sync with the hiring manager but will keep me posted. Honestly I wish they would talk with the hiring manager and then let me know the decision instead of checking in. It’s messing with my emotions.

I have 2 years of sales experience but am looking to make a career change into HR? Any tips of how to standout on my resume or any general advice? Thanks!

Hi fishes, my friend recently had a bitter experience with Dish Network. So her profile was shortlisted and they asked few questions over email. It did take good 2hrs to answer and she replied back. HM said we are good to go for interview and sent an invite. On the day of interview nobody turned up, neither they gave an update later. She did follow up for a couple of days but no response. I’ve recently left my job (unhappy with it) and am applying for new work. I have a few irons in the fire at the moment. I’m curious about a trend I am seeing: I like to think I’ve well documented my abilities and functions in my CV, as well as my portfolio.
