Hi fishes,
Any guess how many people are laid off from Publicis sapient in past few days? Really scared for my future as I'm also under probation period and deeply regret for my choice of joining this firm...I don't understand why were they recruiting peeps when they were short of projects. Publicis Sapient

They are not required to PIP you especiallybecause most US states are At-Will employment. So if you got the email, assume they can let you go at any point.
They will likely do layoffs "due to business climate" in the next few months and they can include anyone not billing, or perceived as "low performance" in that without ever hitting a PIP.
Start looking and interviewing, but also research ways to negotiate you severance package. If they do put you in a layoff, it'll be a last minute thing that you won't be able to prepare for, so start now by removing any personal stuff, ensuring you have important contacts in your phone/ LinkedIn, and you have a draft script to negotiate should it occur.
Last but not least, D. like most firms are notoriously bad at actually performance measurement. There are some actual low performers, but the real number is much lower than what's said because to them, "low" just means you're not clamoring over others to overperform & they don't like that. Don't let it affect your self-worth or your identity. Focus on what you're good at and what you enjoy and maximize that in a new role, elsewhere. ❤️

C1 you have nailed the response!!
I completely echo every thought and specially regarding their performance measurement!
OP - best wishes to you and start looking for something you feel is more apt and good for you
I was tagged low performers (not on official pip). I performed to rockestar level next year and also was roles my counselor that my weekly check ins have been amazing. Yet I was laid off.
Takeaway- walk away while you can with high sense of urgency please!
Yes. This is a mandatory step before they let you go. Start looking asap

Start looking immediately but do not quit until you have a job lined up. In the meantime I’d reflect on
1. Are you surprised?
2. If not, what could you have done better and how will you be better in the next role?
3. If you are, maybe it’s time to reach out for some feedback.
4. What do you want out of your next role? Apply with precision instead of just spamming your resume.
Not immediately
I know of someone that was put on a PIP who was able to right the ship, and now has almost 20 years tenure. It's not always the end of the line, I suggest that you have a very direct conversation with your manager, and ask for feedback on whether they think that you can turn it around. Regardless of your thoughts about it, pay close attention to their answer.
1. Talk to your manager and ask for an honest feedback. Get suggestions on how you can ease your situation. See if you can change the team/project (It will help you start fresh)
2. Please start looking for jobs outside D. Keep your 'open to work badge' on LinkedIn. Update your resume and start networking.
3. Don't let this affect your self worth and confidence!
I got PiPed roughly one year ago at Uncle D- it was political nonsense (verified it was nonsense am from SC to PMD) but I hung in for 6 months, interviewed and hit a 45% comp bump at Cousin K in strategy.
Long story short- low performers usually know who they are. If your coach didn’t communicate this to you, then it’s purely a numbers thing.
A friend of mine was put on PiP and after 6 months of intense scrutiny they were able to get back on track. Stayed with the firm for 2 more years since, before leaving for a masters.
