I got my paralegal cert. last year, and I am working towards my advanced paralegal certificate. I have applied to hundreds of jobs during the last 6 months, and I have gotten between 10 and 15 interviews, but not a single job offer. While my legal experience in the U.S. falls short, I am a bilingual foreign-licensed attorney, so I know how the law works, and I will need just a short training for certain procedures. Is the job market too crazy? Or are law firms asking for too much exp nowadays?

I am in the process of finishing up my MBA but considering also getting my SPHR or PHR cert. Is it even worth it or a waste of time and money?

I am not getting any response on my posts..I'm feeling depressed due to my bad luck. I have only 1 month noticeperiod left & had only 1 offer in hand with 40CTC. Got a 30% salary bump, via an offer for Senior Consultant S&O from Deloitte. Currently underpaid at EY Advisory. I'm MBA and this year is my promotion year at EY for Manager. What to do? Get demoted and move to D? Or counter at EY? Even if EY matches my salary, and promote me to Manager, I will be an EY Manager with a Deloitte SC salary, and probably won't be able to go to D in the future. What do you think? I have built up a good relationship with my Partner and SMs at EY though.

Just venting. College friend (same ethnicity but came to US with family as a kid) told me she might get a new job offer w a smaller firm, 50% pay bump. We currently work at comparable big firms but her pay is already higher than mine (hers include stocks, mine doesn’t). We did equally well in college & I know I’m just as smart. Can’t help but feel like my career’d have been much better if I did not need sponsorship. Smaller firms don’t sponsor so I work at a big firm but pay isn’t great 🙄

Considering an offer to go from firm (4 YOE) to become a privacy/product counsel for a tech company (non-faang). One concern for me is the potential of a recession in late 22 into 23 with the fed rate hikes. My fear is if that happens, me being on the chopping block as new in house counsel. If I stayed at the firm, I feel reasonably secure as an associate of not being laid off due to the market. How do in house counsel positions typically fare during lay off cycles? Has anyone felt guilty when there is a slow day? What is the least billable hour you had in a day?

My boss (atty) is so disorganized! I’ve been with him 6 months and he’s having a hard time delegating, sharing info and managing deadlines. I’ve organized the caseload to manage the deadlines. He says he wants me to help with discovery but when I offer to start on one, he says he needs to do it. (Since he might have to present as evidence) When I give him deadlines and ask for the docs he says he’ll get to it. It’s a small 1 man firm, and I’m the first assistant besides his wife. Any advice?

Paralegals: My firm is looking for a paralegal, and I see the job posting advertising the salary as $65-$75k, with benefits. Is this a good salary for a paralegal (Greater LA area)? I’m not the decision maker, but it’s been a few weeks with very few applicants. I’m curious if there’s something hurting the firm in its search.

I’m currently a bankruptcy paralegal. Not sure I want to stay in bankruptcy forever. I’ve heard it can be really hard to change practice types and break into a new area of law. Anyone have experience or tips/advice on doing so?

(1/2) I started a new job less than a month ago at a large firm with a significant pay increase. I work remotely- which is a special arrangement. They paid for my travel to their headquarters for in-person training. After interacting with my manager and some of the attorneys, I feel like I made a mistake. Manager is demeaning and rude. A bunch of the attorneys dropped not so subtle hints that people who work from home are causing all kinds of problems. I don’t know what to do.

I did it! I got an in-house Paralegal position after years of working and being burned out at different law firms. I was going to leave the legal field all together because I was so burned out and depressed, but I decided to give the field one more chance if I was able to go in-house. Prayerfully, this transition will be a good one.

Currently a paralegal at a small start up financial services company been there for just a little over a year. I wear “multiple hats” but more recently I’ve done a lot of PM work and some BA work. My position title is changing soon but I’m wondering how helpful that would be for wanting to go into PM work at a tech company. Anyone have any career pivot advice? (Also I’m only 1.5yrs old in my career so I’m definitely still new, and I have previous experience as a project assistant).
