I had a conversation the other day of how to differentiate raises and bonuses. Curious how others describe it to people they manage:

Bonuses: Awarded based on prior year performance as its additional funds from exceeded profits of the firm that are paid out.

Non-promotional raises: Awarded based on prior year performance. I feel this is backwards as it should be to reflect the work you are going to do in the upcoming year.


Promotional raises: Awarded based on new role/work in upcoming year.

What’s your take on Lydecker? What is the culture? Market salary? Expectation on billable hours? Mentorship? Etc.?

I am trying to see what is the average salary for a business analyst with a year experience in a medical device company. I am in the bay area.

I’m so tired of US companies hiring remote Canadian employees offering to pay a fraction of the price for the same role.

This is consistent across the majority of the tech companies. While I am looking to exit consulting, don’t want to be paid 50% of what my colleagues would be making across the border.

I’m interviewing for a marketing manager role at a company based in SF. I’m genuinely excited about the role and the company but we’ve yet to discuss salary. I expect to be asked at some point, but my research has given me a VERY broad range. So I’m here to do a bit more research. I’ve got 5 very relevant years of experience and will have an associate manager directly reporting to me. I have gotten a verbal offer from Facebook, but I just had my phone screen interview with the hiring manager at Amazon yesterday. I want to reach out to the recruiter at Amazon and let them know what the timeline looks like. I would much rather have the Amazon job over the Facebook one. Got hired 3 years ago- newly created staff accountant role with the plan that it’ll go into a senior and then manager role. 1.5 years in I get a title promotion to senior, told I’ll get more duties, start supervising AP, and get monetary promotion to match next year. Got way more work, but nothing else promised within that year. Told next money bump would be manager role (no raise for senior still) and I need to take on more and start supervising AP. Again, seeing nothing…time to leave?
