Probably not worth it. People these days are realizing they can just fire their employers the way their employers fire them. Without notice.
I would argue that could be a generational thing and/or something they did in the moment due to surrounding circumstance.
We really have no way of knowing.
In a professional setting, it could be handled differently but ultimately they don’t owe you/the company an explanation beyond them telling you they’re leaving.
I find it concerning that the primary purpose of OPs post seems to be finding out how they can “report” or cause this individual professional harm.
It sucks, it happened, learn from it, and move on.
Let them go. They probably finally got an offer from one of their first choices. It happens.
Like a better business bureau for employees? Man I kind of wish that was possible sometimes and then just imagine if you were just mean and didn't like them personally and wanted to do that. I don't think it's good karma to chase people down for a negative review. Now if their next company asked you for a reference then I would 1000% mention what happened and just in dry detail.
It may show up on background report as they have given social security number - they are not in the clear.
Good for them honestly - clearly it wasn’t right for them and they did you both a favor by not wasting your time.
Lots of potential constructive criticism but main point: it’s a job, not a marriage.
If someone took something in the interim cause they needed to work, you wouldn’t ‘want’ that candidate?
Or if your interview process took so long all the pipeline candidates are ‘taken’ that’s on the company to look at how inefficient their hiring process is.
You seem to be taking things personally when it’s a business decision, which is a 🚩
If a hiring manager acted that way many people would likely question working there.
Maybe the company should be honestly evaluating themselves vs getting hung up on one persons decision 2 days in.
I have mixed feelings. Overall, this is very inappropriate move because of at least 1) the person took someone else’s chance to join the team and go possibly was better, and 2) headache for the hiring manager.
However, this might have happened in a “mirrored” way when employer acts almost similar to job seekers.
Hope you’ll find a replacement from those who were in the pipeline.
Hmmm.. good question. I do not think so. I think it is more likely that person will be thier own worst enemy. I would however keep thier information on file for Do not hire should anyone call or they attempt to come back.
Also to add, maybe that person was suffering from something personal that they chose not to share. Eg. Addiction or a psychological condition. I’m not denying that it’s a shitty move or trying to defend them. But just saying that maybe they have a problem and simply couldn’t work or have the capacity to realize that they were wrong.
Negativity online can come back to bite you. Potential employees might stumble upon your review and be turned off by the negativity, even if it's justified. Remember, your online image matters!
As others have stated, don’t do that.
I don’t even know any online boards or something similar that’s specifically for employers to rate employees?
We don’t know the reason or context but I do agree that was rude. If you did everything right on your end and was respectful and patient with them then you did your job. However, if your employer isn’t known for having an excellent culture (sexism, racism, ageism, too much gossip, lack of accessibility for the disabled, narcissistic bosses, etc) then there’s a possible reason
