Since the job market is so tough right now, I’ve decided to take some online classes through Intuit Academy to learn the basics for an entry-level Tax Specialist role at TurboTax Live. It’s free and easy to follow, and I figured it’s a good way to add a new skill and keep moving forward. Just wanted to share in case anyone else is exploring different options too. We’re all doing our best—hang in there!
Have you looked into the Government for Jobs? I have been unemployed for two years. I have the education in preparing personal individual tax returns with some extra guidance, and all the jobs I have done have involved over 100 tax returns. The competition with Intuit is not worth working for unless you sell their other products. Learned from experience. I am now in college again, and fight every day to find a job before I lose everything that I have worked so hard to get in my life. (MY HOME)
That's a really good point. Part of it too is likely just how many people with a lot of retail experience are applying for those jobs. Did your career coach offer you any guidance on next steps? I keep hoping someone has the magic secret to finding employment but until then, I'll keep putting out resumes.

She suggested I join a few workshops to meet more people. When I attended the orientation for this "Work 4 Future" program, I saw that many talented people from high-tech industries had lost their jobs. It made me wonder—how could they help me find a job when they’re all looking for work too?

In this tough job market, I believe the best way to land a job is by having a strong connection within the company you're applying to. Many of my friends have found opportunities through their networks.
I had a job interview with Walmart a couple of weeks. This flim flam company had put a range out on the ad for the job. The high range of the job was doable. However they wanted to start me at the low end. Apparently, everyone starts at the low end. If that is the case why put the range which includes the higher amount. Crazy. I did get hired though but couldn’t follow through after I received the offer letter.

It’s now an employer’s market, and many companies are incredibly picky. Recruiters have shared stories of one company hiring an EA for just one month—and rejecting all qualified candidates submitted. What’s more, employers are intentionally lowering salary offers, knowing there are plenty of candidates eager for any opportunity. As a result, even high-quality candidates are being screened out or underpaid due to oversupply.
Your career coach is probably right. And it's possible they selected people with more relevant work history and experience. It's hard to know why they choose some people over others, but don't get discouraged.
Too late, my stress and emotional well-being is unhealthy,
"ASSUME" makes an ...... out of "U" and "ME" ......
Modify your resume to give them (Walmart??? COSTCO???) want they want without making yourself unattractive .... Have "U" seen these employees?
Applying at Walmart and Sam's Club is a joke. I am done applying and taking the tests, only to not be considered. A waste of my time, It is no wonder I stopped shopping at Walmart and Sam's Club membership is expiring in a month and a half. I don't plan on renewing it again. I only bought a membership because they had it down to $25. Then they lowered it again to $20, after I already bought it. I cannot stand Amazon or Walmart anymore. I shop at Meijer.
