I wouldn’t tell your manager that you’re looking for a new job until you’ve secured something unless you like being unemployed.
If you're comfortable about telling the manager the senior's behavior, then yes, but I agree with not saying that you’re looking to leave
Update: essentially my boss told me he would reach out to get it resolved. Senior reached out and essentially said I should take everything as a learning point and take it on the chin. Everyone has been ripped before. Lol
Take this as a learning point that maybe you shouldn’t have gone over his head and complained.
Yea, I would recommend to document this with HR. I have been bullied and ripped etc .. took it to 1:1 inti the rooms … all was resolved eventually.. but to this day .. one thing I would do different I would document with HR. There is whole feedback system in place that I was surprised to learn about later .. you should absolutely use it for your own sanity and “support network “ when you go through these experiences… and you never know … documented facts might be handy ..
Normalize telling your boss to stop being rude
You should : 1. Be sure your judgements about the behavior is right; 2. Get a room for 1 on 1 layout this problem in a constructive way to address the issue; 3. If nothing changes or gets worse, include HR. There are degrees of complaints etc … 4. Well, after all - if there is no good prospect at this job etc … look to change departments or move companies. Only tell your manager when you have an offer in your hands ( nothing personal: business preferences and it will give you a peace of mind ( less complications) just to agree and keep good relationship to an extend that is possible till you move on)
Document document document
They might just be having a bad week.
