I have a Vanguard 401k 2055 Target Date Fund but seeing it’s performance recently, I’ve decided to split this up and allocate some to a more conservative 2030 Target Date Fund. Also added some Real Estate Index Fund and Mid Cap Growth to the mix to try and balance things out. Currently taking a more active approach in rebalancing my investments but aim to increase the 2055 allocation eventually. Is this a practical move considering the current times or should I keep majority on my 2055? 😩

Rebalancing now is a bad idea if you have a long time until retirement.

KPMG 2 thank you for your input and suggestion!!!

Be happy that the correction started at the beginning of your investing timespan.
Going more conservative would likely be a big mistake with several years to retirement.
Hopefully you can max your contributions, so your balance will likely bounce back very quickly, but don’t look at the balance for a while if it demotivates you.

Good morning!

Still trying to figure out this whole Fishbowl thing, so here goes my first post.

I would love to get into provider credentialing, but all employers I've looked at want at least 3 years of experience. So, I'm looking at Provider Network Coordinator roles, because I'm finding some of those roles don't need AS MUCH experience. I'm a RHIT, and have been working in healthcare for nearly 10 years.

Any input on employers is appreciated!

Feeling grateful & proud as I reached my goal ($50K by 25) 5 months early. But I can’t help feeling a bit overwhelmed. In the lifelong scheme of things, $50K doesn’t seem like much. I worked really hard and sacrificed a lot (including mental health) to get to this but it seems a little tiring knowing I still have so long to go. I recently moved out and in with my BF so my expenses are split, but nonetheless they are still expenses. Any tips on continuing this journey and keeping the drive?

I try to guide them and say you want the $$$ cars but the salary you have won’t get there and you’re going to have to find a job that gets them the salary…. Then the fight starts.

I’m curious why more non-US citizens interested in FIRE don’t go live in a no/low tax jurisdiction even for a few years e.g. Dubai, some Caribbean islands. I get that some people will have family circumstances (e.g. elderly parents to look after) so it won’t be possible for them, but for a significant proportion it will be an option

Scores consider the number of accounts that are paid as agreed. Your score was impacted because the number of these accounts is too low, or because you've missed payments recently on some of your accounts.

Hi FIRE friends! My mom is going to get about 250k from the sale of her house in a few days. I’d love to get all of your thoughts, where do you think she can put the money from the sale of her home?

Is there a definitive guide to cost of living? The obvious cost of living centers (SF, NYC, LA etc.) get covered a lot, but I’m wondering where my city falls. It often feels like a MCOL area but I’m not sure how to adequately judge that, and it would be helpful to know when comparing salaries and the like.

Comment if you claim this coupon code. I’m not going to use it.
