Tata Consultancy I am a manager in Capgemini... have an offer frm TCS. the designation being offered is Assistant Consultant.. 9.8 years experience( 5 yrs with Cap) Even though I am getting a package of 25Lakhs.. it seems like a demotion in designation.. Cg has offered to match upto 23.5 lakhs.. Is it worth moving to TCS on this grade? My primary reason for moving out of Cg is i m bored of beauocracy and WLB at current project. No, unless you are already in the expensive part of Austin, then maybe. But if you don't own a home or your house is less than 500k, it's just too big of a cost of living change to swallow IMO.

OK, but are they going to double or triple again over the next 15 years? Because your price point then is not relevant to OP now. As for "boring", I already addressed nightlife, beyond that + being an easy drive to mountains, not sure what you think is more exciting about SF, let alone the rest of the south bay. And yes Texas drivers are horrendous, but so are California's, and the bay traffic is horrendous, too. I'm personally not a fan of Texas, Dallas in particular, but I get the appeal of Austin, and would live there over SF if those were my only 2 choices. Seattle, San Diego, Boston, or even Salt Lake would rank higher than both for me personally, but I love the Indianapolis-Chicago-Milwaukee-Minneapolis corridor where I'm located.
