Look at the benefits of work life balance. How flexible is the schedule? Do you set your own hours? Is less strain and stress on your body worth the change? Do you have a desire to elevate nurses around you to help them grow and succeed in what they are doing?
Remember, with any change in role, you are a novice in that role for the first 1.5 - 2 years! I've been a Critical Care Educator at a busy hospital for 1.5 years now and just now feeling more comfortable in the role. It is my first job away from bedside. The beginning is hard because you are new and there is so much to learn on how to do the job well. I love it now that I pushed through the growing pains!
I mean I’m not sure if I will truly love this role because I have never done anything like this. I just want something “normal” that will pay really well but I feel this has to have a big catch, meaning they will probably drown me in work for this kind of pay. They also said it’s a “manager” role, but how? This wasn’t said to me in the interviews. So I guess I have to see how it is and if it’s too stressful I’ll need to leave or suck it up and hope I get the hang of it. But they did say “it’s a lot in the beginning”. 😩🥴
You won't know until you do the job so keep an open mind but please, do not ever let your job know or give the impression that your pay is too good. Congratulations on your new role.
Oh no, of course I won’t! Haha. I keep many things to myself. I just mean to say that the pay is high for me IMO since I don’t feel that I have the experience that they need for that said pay. So I’m thinking that something has to be up or there’s a catch, etc…but you are right. I won’t know until I start training.
You are being compensated for your knowledge and experience ❤️ Don't sell yourself short!! Take it one day at a time, I think you'll do great!
