I just went back to work after maternity leave earlier this month and I have to say it - I hate being a working mom. Are there any mom AMs in here who can help, whether that be understanding what I’m saying or telling me that it gets better?

I wish i had some comfort for you, but i agree. The only thing that “helped” me is the realization that raising children as a working parent in the United States is uniquely bad. It is hard anywhere, but is intentionally bad here.

Poor Maternity leave, lack of protections, lack of spaces for parents, poor design of the suburbs, lack of education funding, squeezing the middle class family is a uniquely American thing.

A better life can be had elsewhere if you’re willing to trade the higher median salary for a higher quality of life but make less money.

I take comfort in knowing I’m not the only one miserable. Have you made the move?

Been there, it’s horrible. It gets better. Find your people, there are probably some other new moms at your company - in account or other depts - feeling the exact same way. Good luck ❤️

It is horrible! That’s great advice, thank you so much. I wonder if there is a mom group I could connect with.

Do you pay your credit cards in full every month?

I ask because I’ve let my credit spending get a bit lax since moving and adopting a puppy recently, so I haven’t been paying them off in full every month like I used to (though still well above the minimum payment, and keeping utilization at 30% or under). It got me thinking about how many people adhere to this advice.

As more details surrounding the Uvalde shootings emerge, my heart just breaks. Just learned that the gunman was in the school for an hour while parents were outside frantically trying to get in to save their kids.

Also, the husband of Irma Garcia (one of the teachers who lost her life) died of a heart attack today after visiting the memorial. The couple had four kids. I can’t even imagine losing one parent to this horrific tragedy and losing the other within 48 hours.

I would like some advice here. I currently work as an HRBP for a large company and have been with this company for over 2 years. The current company culture is not great, and I’ve been looking for outside opportunities.
I was offered a role at a smaller company that just announced it is being acquired by a large company, however they agreed that they will be operating independently.
Would it be incredibly stupid to start a new HR job at a company currently going through an acquisition?
