That's a lot. Small brief. 2 design option style tiles. No edits. That sounds like the MOST anyone should ask for. Also you have a portfolio, if they don't feel confident in your body of work they can kick rocks
My thoughts exactly. I have a portfolio that they already reviewed and we spoke to, as well as provided (with permission) work for a recent client that rounds out their qualifications ask. I read this and honestly laughed at the gall. I’m glad to see it’s not just me being old and cynical.
Oh hell no
Chief
You have a portfolio. Otherwise, tell them you’re $XXX an hour. Seriously.
I honestly thought about sending them my rate lol
No way, and triple no way that they’re asking for files.
Say this:
“Awesome, so excited to take on this project! I have yet to mention my rates, so here they are: xxx per hour. Does that fit the budget? Thanks✔️
Cheers and talk soon,
Name”
You need to future pace then and let them know it’s going to be paid lol
I know a test assignment would be a flag in agency world, but I’ve found a it’s pretty much standard for startups. Unfortunately.
BUT the red flag for me here is that they want access to the files. Does that imply they have permission to use them? Bc that’s not a test assignment anymore, that’s just free work…….
Test assignments are okay. Free work is not.
Pro
Absolutely not. 15/10 would not participate.
Yeah, the handing the files over by midnight the day after tells me everything I need to know. Additionally, they want you to make changes live on the call? Why? So, they can make sure it’s exactly how they want it?
This feels sus.
Go back "Hey all I think there was some misalignment on the SOW and there feels like a bit of scope creep. Here is what I will deliver xyz, will that work for you."
But also this is a red flag.
Total bullshit
No. This is far too involved for an assessment assignment. It sounds more like they are looking for free work/fresh campaign ideas.
is it a place you want to work for? independent small shop?
A start up, and not anymore honestly…
Guess it depends how badly you want the job.
I’m realizing not that badly 🫤
