You’re a nice person. But it’s not your problem. I’ve seen people stick their necks out for friends and get their heads chopped off.
Agree with ACD1. The best you can do is tell your friend to fight harder for what he deserves but there may be different scenarios here like how his account may be different than yours. I still think he needs to either go after what he deserves or leave if it’s not worth the fight. if it’s drastically different and/or really unfair, I’ll just leave assuming there’s major bias and it’s deep in the culture.
Well you already have a higher title, that’s harder to justify or pinpoint his boss’s selfishness as the reason. What your friend needs to do is leave and find another job or maybe double check that it’s a unique situation where only you are paid a lot more than usual.
we came in at same title...he should have been a higher title if not then, now for sure. Not that I'm putting my work down, but he does higher level work than I, more direct reports, etc. I dont want to see him leave but would rather try and fix the problem as I think it will continue to happen.
