Honestly for absolutely no reason at all. They’re like the Hufflepuff of professional services, but no reason to hate them.
Deloitte on the other hand...
Doesn’t Alix do a lot of restructuring work? Maybe more akin to dementors 😜
I’d be happy to work at KPMG. I’m still waiting to hear back after my first round. Some people are just rude about going to more “reputable” firms. Let’s chalk it up to human nature. At the end of the day, you’re on your own journey and if you’re making more and happy that’s really all that matters.
We are not leaders but laggards and pay the least of the Big 4
Don’t come at me. But in all honestly the calibre of work and pay just isn’t at the same level as S& or EYP
It’s just a meme
Because the tech arm of KPMG (which is big in the B4 landscape) is asssssss. I’ve never seen kpmg even come close to winning an RFP. Even the one time they were at the table the client said they might as well not have shown up
I work in transformation and partnered with tech on multiple proposals we won? Even in bids against other big 4 and Accenture...
Tbh doesn’t seem like clients are as obsessed with big 4 prestige like we are. The Partner relationship matters more and from what I’ve seen partners have jumped ship between big 4, Accenture and IBM quite a bit.
Our strategy team does mostly DD, just FYI
Rising Star
It’s not strategy work. It’s as painful as strategy but not really strategy.
From my experience only - consultants often come in to fix problems created by other consultants 5 years ago. More often than not it’s KMPG 😂
OP I’m happy that you’re excited about the new role. Don’t overindex on what random people in this app say. Bring a positive attitude and do good work. Build strong relationships with your colleagues and clients. Congrats on this opportunity. KPMG is fine and you’ll do great.
I heard from my Kpmg friend that his starting pay was like 20% below Deloitte new hires
Chief
My experience is that K has some areas within consulting where they are at par or better than the other Big4; however, they strategy arm is by far the most immature and therefore gets the youngest sibling treatment.
The salary piece is off. I left one big four for KPMG and it was literally a 50% raise.
That explains it. The strategy team didn’t match my comp when they reached out.
From the strategy perspective I often hear that the bashing mainly comes from the fact that KPMG just doesn’t have an established strategy practice. You have Deloitte+Monitor, PwC+Strategy& and EY+Parthenon and then KPMG+?
There’s also the revenue part where I believe KPMG always comes in 4th to the other three firms.
I am hoping to move up to a job at KPMG!
Me too! Which division within KPMG are you hoping to move into
I thought they gave up on MBA level pay? Management Consulted put them 10-20k below the other T2 firms.
It’s not a prestige thing. Parts of it may just be circular meme economy type commentary but having gone into engagements after a KPMG team has been shown the door by a client kinda instills this notion.
This has happened more times than I’m comfortable with in my short career.
