Anybody read Ants Among Elephants? Thoughts?
I have received offer from Qualcomm. They haven't mentioned about relocation bonus or accommodation in the offer letter. I have tried reaching the hr since the next day of hr round but they haven't responded to my calls or mails. Any advice on how to get accommodation and relocation bonus. Or is it not possible anymore? FYI I'm in city x and the offered position is in city y of another state.

After several follow ups Hr have agreed they will give the relocation bonus and reimbursement

It was 8, but thanks for calling some of my closest friends being laid off as measly and routine.
@D1 the 'official' reason is I believe Lays client is rolling back some money.
DDB BBDO TBWA were among the top tier agencies I always wanted to work at when I was a junior. I’m really happy to have made it into two of them, and they really were cool places to work. Sad to see this chapter close.
Most of the people talking about rethink work at rethink.
And it was 8, not 6.
And it was their second or third round of layoffs this year. THAT IS NOT ROUTINE ANYWHERE ELSE.

I wouldn't say Fishbowl is an accurate representation of the entire industry.
It’s a good reflection of who people truly are deep down inside though.
Imagine getting laid off then getting the salt in the wound of being called “measly” on fishbowl.

They got a pretty similar amount of attention on here actually.
And the mega merge and purge got a lot more discussion elsewhere (LinkedIn mostly) because it is more acceptable to talk about it publicly with a negative tone.
In fact, in most of those posts the spin is that rethink (and other independents) are somehow saving the industry.
There has to be a place for powerless people to call foul (and BS)
I think if certain award winning agencies came clean about layoffs, it would cause less outrage. When you shout off the rooftops about shiny awards and then try to stay hush about laying off people who do the work, it’s not surprise people in the industry get pissed off.
Many agencies have been transparent about it in trade pubs. Not sure if they initiated but they at least confirmed it officially.

Insecure people look for any reason to make themselves feel better by desperately searching for flaws within Rethink with a magnifying glass. You think successful and happy people send their time gossiping about Rethink? They don’t.

I just want the next generation to create agencies with more compassion for the lives of others. It isn’t a job where we should be required to dedicate our lives to in order to stay employed.
I just mean that Rethink has been laying off a few people every couple of months for a while now. The closing of those three agencies will mean far more than six people will get laid off.

You’re half right. I don’t think psychologically well adjusted people spend their time gossiping about rethink and others.
I do think sad people do.both non successful and successful.
I mean if you talk openly about talent hoarding you must be successful right? And I think you also must be pretty unhappy in life.
So true. It’s funny that people on this app continually claim they “don’t care about advertising”, and that “it all doesn’t matter”. At the same time they’re on an app about work, in after hours and in weekends, commenting on every little thing that happens in the industry.

I think it says a lot more about current perception of BBDO, DDB, and TBWA/Juniper Park, tbh. Rethink gets a lot of attention because they’re the consensus best agency in the country by far - it’s like Taylor Swift complaining about paparazzi; sure it’s annoying as hell but you know WHY they’re there.

And all successful independents sell. So sadly rethink and maybe Zulu headed to a similar downfall as bbdo
