It wouldn’t help you or them to know you didn’t get the gig at a competitor.
So no need - but what would help is that you let it be known that you’re familiar with their space given you’ve worked with a few of their competitors ( like who you just interviewed with ), comfortable speaking to their audience/ICP and would love to see if theirs an opportunity for you to work together.

When deciding whether to mention your previous interview process with a competitor in your cover letter, it's important to consider a few factors. Firstly, think about how relevant and beneficial this information is to the new company you're applying to. If your experience with the competitor is directly applicable to the role and highlights your strengths, it may be worth mentioning. However, if it doesn't significantly contribute to your qualifications, it might be better to focus on other aspects of your skills and experience. Secondly, consider the tone and context in which you present this information. Instead of emphasizing that you were turned down, you could emphasize the positive aspect that you were a strong contender and made it to the final stage of the interview process. This shows that you have valuable skills and were highly regarded by another company. Ultimately, the decision to mention your previous interview process is up to you. Just make sure to carefully assess the potential impact and relevancy of this information to effectively showcase your qualifications and fit for the new role.
No, doesn’t help. Makes me think there might be better candidates
I went through that so much within the last couple of months. The first time I went through 3 or 4 interviews over a month or so. Hiring manager told me the interview was great and was overly happy we had the interview. So I knew I was in. Then he told that the hr manager wanted more people in the pool of applicants to choose from. I was like what's the point if I interviewed great. Made no sense. Long story short, they gave the position to one of the new applicants. Waste of my time.
Then this other company I had 5 interviews with and had to take a test. They chose me for the position. Then a day later, they tell me the job is on hold. So, I waited and they called me to let me know position had opened back up. So I had 2 more interviews. Got chosen for the job again. Then they told me, position was on hold again smh
