When I was a paralegal it was my first year working in a professional office. I had 15 an hour starting and ended with 16.50 in the second year I was there. Salary was around 28,800 plus quarterly bonuses the first year and 31,680 the second year. I also paid a portion of the health insurance. Very very low salary. Criminal defense firm.

Anyone here from Canada? The compensation packages are obviously different. My title is Team Lead, litigation support (eDiscovery) and Sr Paralegal. 12 years specific experience plus 12 more years as Legal Assistant in Toronto, ON and Calgary, AB
$93k +OT, 100% benefits paid, matching RRSP contributions. 5 weeks vacation plus 5 personal days, 5 sick days. Hybrid work schedule 3 in office, 2 home, flex hours.

I did some eDiscovery for about 2 years hated it!! Crappy old Summation!
That sounds low for Toronto. I am from Montreal but I know people in the same spot making 20-25k more. Matching RRSP. 100% benefits for employees (you pay an extra for family) 4 weeks vacation, unlimited sick days, in office 1/week

Why is education deemed more valuable on a pay scale than experience? Employers will pay someone with a degree and no experience a greater salary, than someone who has exhibited the experience. I’m a 23yo female legal assistant working/living in Canada. I am completing my BA in hopes of continuing with law school after. Hi everyone!
I work as a paralegal in the Bay Area. I’ve only ever worked in biglaw, but am considering switching to in-house. I was wondering if anyone here has worked in both and can share some insight into the pros and cons of each. Thanks!

So I’ve been with a court for a while and honestly the pay sucks compared to what paralegals should be making… the benefits are great though and they match my retirement 100% now that I’m vested at 3 years.I have 4 kids and 1 is getting ready for college. I feel like the benefits are great but I’d rather make more now. I am a previous LEO for 4 years who switched to paralegal so I have my leo retirement. Paralegals here make $28 with no benefits what is a good compromise

I am prior military and went to law school. I had a family to take care of while I was a student, hence I went as fast as possible to get to a paycheck, graduating in 2 years, and bypassing the standard summer clerkships. How could I get some experience strictly remote? I am w-2 working as an accountant in healthcare, have passed the bar and am working on my CPA license (studying starts at 3 am, then work FT). I would like to eventually hang a shingle as a tax lawyer, but need experience. TIA!

Paralegals: My firm is looking for a paralegal, and I see the job posting advertising the salary as $65-$75k, with benefits. Is this a good salary for a paralegal (Greater LA area)? I’m not the decision maker, but it’s been a few weeks with very few applicants. I’m curious if there’s something hurting the firm in its search.

I did it! I got an in-house Paralegal position after years of working and being burned out at different law firms. I was going to leave the legal field all together because I was so burned out and depressed, but I decided to give the field one more chance if I was able to go in-house. Prayerfully, this transition will be a good one.
