I work in commercial real estate. I have a buddy building a house who wants me to review his construction agreement with the builder and any loan docs. He has the money and wants to pay my hourly rate. This is sort of small potatoes for my firm, but he’s not trying to get a freebie and I’d like to do this by the books. Any advice?

Run conflicts and bring it in through the normal channel that you would were it not “small potatoes.”

like

It’s possible your firm won’t allow it. Might be too small to justify expending resources on the conflicts check and other new matter admin items

Fellow real estate guy here, unless you negotiate construction contracts for residential homes in your normal practice, don't agree to this. There are many more laws and regulations for owner occupied SFR construction contracts and the mmarket terms do not match commercial deals. I only agree to this for very good client and even then I have to give a disclaimer that I am not familiar with SFR contracts.

Confused as to when to jump from consulting. I joined a T2 consulting firm after MBA and working from 9 months but the job made me anxious and personal health took a hit. I'm also concerned about exits from CEO's office roles, what do they look like?
Please help! Suggestions are welcome and appreciated!
