I’m a Canadian on an F1 visa who just started at McKinsey in the US. Which ‘trusted traveler’ program should I go for (and am eligible for), e.g. TSA Pre Check, Clear?

Nexus?

Nexus gets you all of the global entry and TSA pre check benefits + expedited customs when you re enter Canada.

Global Entry will get you TSA pre check by default.

I don’t think you can do any of that w/o a green card.

MC2 - are you American?

Nexus.

like

I have Clear and Global Entry (so pre-check by default) I legit get through security in under 5 mins. every time.

like

Clear with GE or Nexus is pretty much a shortcut to the front of the precheck line. Though they aren’t in many airports so depends on your flying patterns.

helpful

Have Nexus. I think the confusion that is cropping up in this thread is that many folks are not familiar with Nexus because they aren’t Canadian so pursue TSA pre and global entry differently.

like

I’m an American who chose to get Nexus. Just renewed it a few weeks ago. It’s a better solution than Global Entry but in the first application instance, requires going to a border post for interview vs. a local GE office in say Oklahoma City. But once you do it, confers more benefits than GE or Precheck for a lower fee. No brainer.

Seems like this is a good place to get a reality check on what I am looking for in a position. I am trying to leave my current firm. I am a Senior Tax Accountant. Been the only Senior for a year. Currently make $76k. Had a bonus of $4500 this year. Not sure what the bonus is going to be next year (or if there will be any) since they are moving to a new bonus plan that is supposed to be more "fair and generous" We have a Safe harbor 401k plan. So get an automatic 3% contribution to 401K.

I know I don't have to attend, but shouldn't it be convenient for guests?

The firm pays much better (1800 hours, flexible wfh) but I feel like the experience in house would go further in becoming a GC down the road. Please help!
