Any company looking for 6 years of experience for a STAFF level position must be insane. I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole.
Wait until senior and keep looking for industry positions. This one does not sound promising
The decision is: Do you want a life or money? The bump might be good to initially move to the position, but chances are you'll have to settle for 3% raises (max) the whole time you're there, but you'll have a life. Stay in public and earn quite a bit more money wise much faster but potentially not have a life (either for the full year or if you're lucky only for a couple of months).
What GT1 said.
The 3% raises max is exaggerating. There are many people in industry that have climbed the ranks, receiving much greater than 3% raises. It’s all about great you are. My wife never went big 4, and she was at manager at the same time that I was, making a good chunk more. She did work harder than her colleagues, but not the hours I have. So if you like the other jobs outside of PA, there are opportunities to grow. Just make sure you put in the effort regardless of where you are.
Care about not getting a title change if the salary bump is pretty decent? Thanks!
You can definitely still advance in industry. But some companies definitely are very slow advancement and low raises. Staying 1 more year in PA to get senior title and guarantee senior industry jobs is really advisable.
Does the role sound interesting? Did you like the people? If yeah go for it if not wait
Titles just that, a title. All that matters is $$
