I have leaned into the readings, YouTube, and occasional Zoom meetings. For whatever reason, not wanting to have to restart the sobriety calendar and tell everyone that I had to restart has been enough so far. I also drink club soda and bow out early for gatherings that have the potential to go late. I thought client dinners would be a problem since bottles of wine tend to be ordered, but no one has said a thing when I decline. My mind, once again, made it a bigger deal than it was to anyone else.
Traveling is not an excuse to back off of what I do to maintain my sobriety, if anything, I need to do more work.
AA is everywhere, my cell phone works everywhere , and though I personally feel that Zoom meetings are not full AA, they are better than skipping altogether when in-person truly isn't possible.
A lot of my drunk-alog takes place during work trips, from needing to be drunk to combat anxiety in the airport amd before take-off to closing down the bar after the event itself. I have no excuse to put thst same energy towards findong a meeting and calling my sponsor.
Same things I do at home. I find local meetings, I call my sponsor and other guys in the program every day, I meet with my sponsees (virtually sometimes), etc. I once did a virtual service position hosting an online meeting. I have to be more flexible about when these things happen, but primary purpose is to stay sober. Keeping my job will follow if I make the time for my program.
