I don’t have a separate pathway to share, but I wanted to let you know I understand how you feel. Looking forward to what others have done as well.
This is a universal truth of being a creative project manager. Having a supportive manager definitely makes the job better.
Another way to look at it is to separate the tasks from the specific workplace. If both of those forces were removed, or if you worked somewhere else, would you enjoy being a PM?
Good luck!

I went to the client side. Work life balance. Is it the work or the field? Things you prob should think about
This is me on a daily 🥺. Totally relate
I spent the bulk of my career in project management. Moved up ranks to Director. I loved it until til burn out set in. Transitioned to creative services to do resourcing and recruiting, then eventually landed an agency sr recruiting role. So happy now. Everything I learned as a PM working with all the cross functions set me up for success as a recruiter.
The field of Business Operations is a natural complement to Project Management. It shares many skills and responsibilities with the latter, yet when combined, these disciplines can significantly enhance career prospects, opening pathways to executive roles such as COO.
New job :(

Project management is the hardest job. However, it’s a great foundation. Especially, when you want to pivot.
I’m in marketing operations on the client side. We’re still a project manager responsible for overall seasonal campaign planning and execution but more on the operational framework, not solely responsible for final launch. After more than 10 years on the agency side, I love not having to constantly make concessions to please the client and put out fires. Right now I like being in the background, a bit more distanced.

Yes my background is in operations as well. I helped Ann Taylor/ Loft bring their factory & outlet stores to the e-commerce space/product launch. I’m usually sent to roles requiring the same experience with marketing operations attached. I’m trying not to ever go back to an agency.
Do you have a trusted ally on the team with whom you could partner to address the issues? Have you talked to the team in smaller groups? I have found that many are so in their heads that they have no idea about others on the team.
Use agile techniques to help you get the team producing the most valuable stuff. The traditional ordering up a fries and a coke is expensive and demoralizing.
Way late to this convo, but a friend/former co-worker is looking for a project manager/management role. She has experience in both the creative and media side.
