Fears of a recession are reasonably causing people to take a second look at their job security. Seeing as many lawyers are working in specialty tax within PA how many of you are worried about a potential slowdown/layoffs within specialty tax? If not why do you feel you won’t be as affected? Hi fishes,
Any guess how many people are laid off from Publicis sapient in past few days? Really scared for my future as I'm also under probation period and deeply regret for my choice of joining this firm...I don't understand why were they recruiting peeps when they were short of projects. Publicis Sapient
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
Is congizant doing layoffs?

Also a lot of people won’t reach out after a layoff, either because they don’t know that you were part of it, or because if they do know, they don’t want to rub it in. It’s a form of loss, and some people don’t know what to do around that. But also try to take a step back and realize it has nothing to do with your intrinsic worth as a person or your importance.
We all suffer from spotlight effect - thinking someone/everyone is thinking about us when in reality that isn't the case. It's just life. Try to embrace it as a natural thing - the emotional suffering will subside.
Just to bring your morale up, I just saw a post about a partner congratulating a person who joined board of directors meanwhile that same partner in my same company never replied to me when I approached her. So it’s not you or has nothing to do whether you are important or not, it’s the other person just don’t care and rightly so why would they? What will they gain? We live in a society where a lot of injustice happens frequently, I mean look at our tax dollars, priorities etc. it’s all boils down to what do they gain from you. I stopped approaching people I know on LinkedIn, better approach people on fishbowl and get referral if you have to.
Sorry for being redundant, just trying to say that you are not alone in this
Regarding all the LinkedIn connection or connection you made through professional life only 10-20% people truly cares or would help out. Everyone on LinkedIn out to gain their personal interest. So unless you have something to offer most of the people truly dont care. When you are working for a bank the consulting people will reach out to sell you work, meanwhile when you reach out to those same people 8/10 times they don’t response or you get a response saying let me get back to you. So I would tell you one thing, don’t be discouraged, use the probability class from your undergrad to hit your target and tailor your resume for each job using AI then use synonym function and add context yourself in your resume and add a cover letter what can you bring, what impact you made and why you are excited for your next role might help
i pray youll will recover
I feel the same way. The people I had lengthy conversations with and helped financially when they needed it have ghosted me after I was bullied into leaving my job. This shows me that I wasn’t important to them. I’ve learned to avoid investing in work friendships and instead just be polite without getting close to people at work.
