Additional Posts in Risk Assurance
Hello - hope everyone is having a great weekend. I'm looking into risk assurance opportunities at Meta, especially Application Manager, Controls (min 5 YOE) and Manager, Compliance (min 12 YOE). I am a Senior Manager with 9 years of IT risks assurance experience. Does anyone have any thought on which position I should apply? If anyone currently at Meta could share your experience, that would also help. If anyone is open to providing referrals, I could provide my background. Facebook (Meta)

Side note, I don’t really care about the prestige bullshit - we are IT auditors so I don’t think there is much prestige with anything in our line of work. I am mostly concerned about WLB/overall comp and exit opportunities. In my opinion the exit opportunities are pretty much the same for me at KPMG or at Protiviti for risk. I am hoping to pivot out of risk in the next 1-2 years but I do need more free time to invest in myself to make this happen.
Just avoid firms and go to industry
Protiviti is a great place to work. I rarely work over 40 hours a week. The culture is great, the benefits are good, and there are lots of opportunities for growth. You mentioned you want to switch out of risk in the future, and they are very open to those kinds of moves. I originally started in Internal Audit, and was able to switch into their Data and Analytics group. The only complaint I ever really have is that compensation is typically a bit lower than some other firms, but if they are matching your current salary then that shouldn’t be an issue for you.
What level were you when you made the move ?
Only a match? Couldn't you negotiate a bump up?
Still a worthwhile hop if work life balance is the goal, but you should also consider exploring industry options.
Do it.
Isn't that great? What are you hesitating for?
It seems great, which is why I’m hesitant. I just want to make sure I’m gathering perspectives and not making a quick/impulsive decision because I’m unhappy at KPMG.
No, you spent enough time at KPMG and being unhappy is reason enough to leave. It’s also a relief to get away from external audit and be on the more advisory side.
While industry is worth looking into, remember Protiviti will promote you and give you raises and bonus every year. In industry you may be stuck at the same level for many years than if you are in a professional services firm. Not all industry jobs are like this but many just give a pathetic COL increase and may not even include a bonus.
Protiviti is great, come join us!
Why don’t you switch to something different at KPMG?
Yes just ask your P & they’ll be glad to transfer you next week ! /s
