What are some must read books that will help me understand the biopharma industry? I'd like to have a clearer view of the process from preclinical to marketing stage and just have a general background of the different major players, spec pharma field, the rise of CDMOs and CROs in the space, etc.

How do I handle a situation where a supervisor questions comes off as she sees me as stupid and is belittling me? In the beginning of week, I was scheduled spilt between her client and another, and she felt I was responsible to tell her. We all have access to the schedule. When on this other client, she wanted to do call. I responded I was at a client, and she was upset and believed I should respond her questions concerning her job. I was in a conversation with a client at the time.

If you work for a large commercial carrier in the US, how much PTO/sick time do you get? What’s considered good right now? Is 20 days PTO plus 8 sick days and regular paid holidays good or would you negotiate for more with a new offer?

Those of you Director/ VP level HR folks, what exactly do you do in terms of “strategic” HR? I earned my Director wings 1 year ago. My boss called me and let me know a client doesn’t want me on their project any longer because they didn’t like my presentation skills. I prepped so hard and really put everything into it. Huge audience and there were a lot of questions - but I navigated as thoroughly and accurately as I could, with the time I had. He told me not to worry about it, that clients been awful for a while and it happens with other companies/colleagues. Only my 10th solo presentation ever - but I still feel awful.

Received a job offer. Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on a concern I had about it. It's an entry level position, and I don't have much experience. The billables are 2040 a year. For billable hours in civil litigation and insurance defense, is 2040 hours for a 1st year associate on the high end in this field for a small or midsize firm? It seems like most attorneys I know have minimum requirements of around 1800. The compensation is around 80k a year.

Question: I currently work as an inside sales account manager selling a wide portfolio of IT products. I’ve been recruited for a role that would be an outside sales role selling ONLY a software solution that Im able to sell at my current company (but usually don’t due to other options that we are compensated better off of.)
