I’m new to the insurance field and curious about which area is the best to build a long term career in. There are so many paths like auto, life, health, property, and commercial, and each seems to have its own rewards and challenges. For those who have been in the business for a while, which type of insurance do you think offers the best career growth and job satisfaction?

If I could go back and redo my insurance career I’d have pivoted to commercial underwriting as early as possible. I only knew claims for the first nearly 10 years and by then it was too late to start over at the bottom in another dept. I think UW has much broader opportunities than claims because claims is pretty specific, but with UW you can move around to a variety of verticals and niches or pivot to sales and marketing or to product.

Hard disagree from my experience. But not everyone’s experience is the same. With large bonus structure I was making more in my first year than claims team managers and it’s only gotten better since then.

From what I have heard, business. P&C personal has limited opportunities and tends to be very monotonous at least on the sales side. Same exact conversations every day

I would love some suggestions on transitioning and career paths.

I gave 15+ years in healthcare claims (payer side, physician/facility side) and revenue cycle management. I’m burnt out and want to transition away from revenue cycle mgmt.

I only have my Associates degree and would currently need to take a job that is remote with no/minimal phone responsibilities. What roles do you recommend that would allow me to transition my skills while maintaining a minimum salary of 50k?

Looking for potential roles in PDX. Posting a redacted resume. The heading on this resume is for customer solutions professional, but I am also really great with data entry and very tech savvy. I am also taking classes in python. Something in the greater PDX area would be strongly preferable since I don't have a car (I do have a driver's license, just to clarify) unless the work is within a reasonable commute. I also have a lot healthcare experience. Ping me!

I handleda very difficult and convoluted succession for a black family. My client was astute and intelligent. We got along great. His family was difficult. Willfully ignorant.

Part of the succession dealt with clawing back $450,000 in insurance proceeds that a niece fraudulent received from the decedent by making herself the beneficiary on policies. A separate attorney was hired to handle that part before I was hired to handle all other matters, including settling a $500,000 debt with the...

Small firm partners are allergic to WFH, and can't afford to be flexible with when an associate gets to their work. The support of a larger firm is what has kept me alive this past year.

Any insight appreciated!
