Thought this was interesting. Across 160 teams of researchers, just about all failed to make good life outcome predictions on things like GPA, evictions, layoffs, and others. Data followed 4.5k families across 15 years, with 13k features (varied over time). Haven't looked at it directly yet, but will be turning the docs and data inside out... In the meantime, authors claim this as showing the limits of ML. Oh, and it's published in PNAS, so you know there's some big publication energy there.

Hi all.
Has anyone in IBM been on bench for more than 4 months here?
I have been on bench for almost 4 months now & have been getting automated mails asking me to get assigned to a project by searching one by myself, else necessary action might be taken.
And are there any chances of being straightaway fired based on these automated mails?
I would genuinely need an advise from someone who is aware of this kind of situation.

Clients will leave and then they’ll use those people not scoped as an excuse to lay off and offshore the role in the future at least at the more junior levels

I’ve already seen the date January 6th thrown around in the advertising bowl, right now it’s all pure speculation because no one knows.
If I had to guess they’re going to do quarterly layoffs throughout 2026.
I’ve seen it. I’m not trying to further perpetuate a certain date (I have no solid info).
BUT do I feel that clients are receiving 5-star service right now? Yeah right. Everyone is terrified. I’m trying to open the discourse on something I feel is wider than my agency
I think they’ll wait for RTO attendance to come in and then use that to lay off as well. I worked with clients that loved their teams. I agree with you that some clients will leave due to their teams being gutted.
