I am not a creative. But it is really hard to work in advertising and be a parent. I just wanted to say you are not alone. I ended up freelancing so I could have more control over my schedule and not work as much. But because I am not working as much my family has had to adjust to having less income. Additionally, I am not sure when I will work. (But realistically there is never real job security in advertising.)
Smaller markets make a big difference. You can do great work and still have a life. 🙌🏻kc🙌🏻
I’m sitting on a plane right now feeling the same way. Don’t have any advice, just wanted you to know you’re not alone.
You’re a good mom already because you’re providing for your child. Also, I know this is considered a death move on Fishbowl, but have you considered pharma? It’s generally more family friendly because there’s not as much of a “this is my life’s passion” vibe. People want a steady paycheck and to go home to their families at night. I know there can be late nights in pharma too, but I’ve worked at three agencies and have always gone home around 6pm 90% of the time.
RPA is generally flexible.
Also, I’m in LA, so any suggestions of flexible agencies or work situations are welcome 🙏🏼
Sending hugs. I can relate. I ultimately went in house and that helped a little.
Therapy helps. I’ve slowly been learning and applying boundary setting.
