In a tech start up, is it better to write policy & procedure yourself or have a vendor do it (e.g. employee onboarding policy, network policy, technical safeguards, client dispute resolution, performance milestone, etc).

If you are funded, ask your VC to get a few from other companies they fund. Then hire an expert to clean up what you mark up.

like

It really doesn’t matter. But the only advantage of having the vendor write it for you is, you don’t have to deal with internal shit answering shit ton of whole ‘why’ questions. If the vendor write it for you, they will cover with the bullshit of saying it’s an industry standard or rest of the world is using it as a standard practice etc. And politically you would be in a safe position and of course you can get what you want as well

like

Hire a vendor to do the grunt work but you lay out the framework and the table of content

If you work for the start up recommend you do it. If you work for the vendor, recommend you do it.

I am defending an eviction for a client who has given possession of the property (as of Nov. 30). Plaintiff’s complaint has one claim – possession. They did request relief for attorney’s fees. NJT/Final Hearing commenced 10/27, was only 30 min and was therefore continued to 12/20. Plaintiff had counsel at that time but they are no longer represented.  I want to file something notifying Court that Plaintiff claim is now moot, making sure that judgment is not entered that hurts (cont'd)..

What are your client follow-up/communication policies or practices? I’m hearing more and more that clients don’t like the long periods of time with little to no contact. From my perspective, since I bill for my time, unless I have an update or need something, I don’t initiate a call. Also, clients hold on to important info and don’t initiate a call cause they’re waiting for me to communicate with them.

Is there any resources someone can point me to about the potential legal issues and more information from an HR perspective about contingent employees (temps, contract workers, part-time workers) versus normal FTE’s?

I’m working on a project for an HR class and finding good sources with real evidence about this from SHRM and news publications has been rough. Thanks!

I’ve been having a bit of trouble working with one partner at a new firm. There are definitely things I can/need to work on for improvement, but I’ve been practicing for four years and have had no trouble with other partners/peers before. This partner sent an email to me with bills for one client of his/hers I worked on and now looped in a practice management person to have a ‘management call’ (prob to talk about billing less..) Should I be looking for other opportunities?
