I attended a client interview last week and was selected for the same. Now they are asking to join within a day or two. I'm having my mom's surgery this week. How to safely refuse to join this client project for at least 10 days. I can't take leave for 10 days.

How do referrals work?
If I get a referral from someone and I apply, then can I still reach out to a recruiter on LinkedIn expressing interest in the role? And do I let them know that I already applied? I’m being offered a role as systems engineer (feels more like a sales engineer) in the energy industry.
Frequent travels required through Europe 6 months out of the year. Responsible for tech consultation with customers on pre-sales, system integration post-sale + training customers on product /fixing problems on their site.

The interviewer said to me to add 30% on my current salary and ask for that. Now I’m asking for £97k. Reasonable?
