It might have more to do with taxes or IT security. We can’t work with people outside of the US for both of those reasons.
I see, one of the recruiter told me about the tax but I don’t think it’s hard to figure that out though 🤷🏼♀️
Maybe their concern was more about time zone differences?
Not sure about time zone difference, but that could play the main factor :(

It’s possible. just not likely.
Why do you have to tell them your location?
Also don’t charge based off location.
That’s what I prefer to, i don’t think anyone will consider my candidacy if I tell them I’m out of the state :( maybe I shouldn’t update my locations on my resume and LinkedIn.
I don’t think it’s impossible. I have a friend who started freelancing after the pandemic and did really well. She’s relocating to Europe and working remotely. Don’t know how she’s gonna deal with the time zone difference though.
Last thing I knew, projects. But she’s really well connected, very good, and nice to work with, so she’s always busy.
I'm in pretty much the same boat as you are. Thinking of moving back to the US because of it.
I booked two gigs as a freelancer. The first one was for 6 months and they had no idea I wasn't in the country. The second one was hiring in a rush and I only told them during the interview. I assured them the time difference wouldn't matter. It helped that I did the first gig though.
Ymmv but sometimes some "untruthing" is helpful. Or just never bring it up lol
I see, where are you all located at?
