Anyone else have someone in their life / work or personal/ who continually brags about “knowing how to set up a zoom meeting”? It’s month three of the pandemic. We all know how to set up a zoom meeting Karen.
Does anyone have a virtual happy hour activity that was actually fun, other than drinking some expensed booze.
Anyone else experiencing texting fatigue during the pandemic? I love my friends, but after a full day on zoom calls the last thing I want to do is talk or text about the minutiae of everyday life. I feel like once a week or every couple of days is a happy medium for me. I know my friends mean well and they’re great, but the constant texting is wearing me out! Curious if other people feel this way?
Manager tends to slack and not show up or provide guidance. SM sat on my desk today and called my manager saying he needs to work on some QAs. Later my manager called me and dump the work on me 😰
Received my conditional pre-approval for global entry renewal and there are 0 available appointments for the next 12 months either via Zoom or at my local airport. Any tips on when to check or how to get one? Current authorization expires in January.
You know it's going to be a productive day when you open your laptop and your Skype tag already says busy outside of working hours.
are Skype calls always awkward
Does the firm have the ability to actively monitor skype chats? Does the people consultant have the power to oversee or someone else? Just curious
One thing I truly will never understand is how Zoom became so successful despite the success of so many other meeting platforms.
Anyone feel almost shamed or snarky comments are said when you do your job or don’t slack like some of the coworkers? I don’t want to be rude but also want to let them know it’s not cool.
Two R1 Zoom interviews - one went well and the other not so well. Think it was a good cop bad cop situation. Do they factor in both interviews 50-50?
Anyone who had a strict dress code in your office or on client site - what do you wear on zoom now? Does no one care, or do you still have to dress up somewhat?
About to give my notice... company is having alternate week (wfh/office) arrangement. is it more appropriate to wait for a f2f convo or do it on zoom? (as an introvert doing it virtually feels more comfortable... but what do u think?) 🤨
Hey Eric, I’m going to be performing a series of Skype interviews with several Sr. Managers/Partners for an out-of-town role. Any pointers or advice for Skype interviews ?
Does anyone have suggestions for virtual happy hour games/activities? What has your team been doing, and what has worked best and gotten the most people engaged in participating?
I have worked in the HR space for the past 9 years, however most of my experience has been in Talent Acquisition. I do want to move into a People Operations/Generalist role. I’m planning to go for a HR certificate but unsure if I should go for a PHR or SHRM. Please advise!
Looking at moving to Raleigh. Fed law clerk who also clerked in state court (NJ). Curious as to the potential salaries and benefits for a third-year associate and what is/isn’t negotiable.
Ok be honest, candidates. I really love this set of questions, I’ve been considering shifting my current interview style to these questions - I think they really give you an idea of who this person would be within the work setting. But the questions almost feel too deep for a recruiter to ask. What would you think if a recruiter took a different path and asked these questions instead of the usual ones? https://blog.shrm.org/blog/9-interesting-interview-questions-that-actually-reveal-a-lot-about-candidat
Hey folks were hiring PMs (and other positions) in a bunch of locales right now. Happy to chat 1 on 1 and provide reference if you’re a good fit!
Hi all, as a Talent Acquisition Partner that is looking to start expending my Professional education, would you recommend pursuing SHRM-CP certification?
I hear Jones Day doesn’t do bonuses. Is this true? I’m thinking of a lateral move but want to ensure I understand the comp structure. Any insight?
Looking to switch out of consulting. Does anyone have advice on how to concisely write out all the work you’ve done in consulting if it’s been pretty broad and general? I’ve been an analyst at Accenture for 2 years and have done vastly different things at each client. I appreciate any advice!
Anyone else out there concerned that the market is going to go bear and we’ll be back to the days of endless layoffs and starving for projects?
I have recently accepted a Deloitte offer. I got details on pay, PTO, 401K match and max bonus. Curious about other benefits or other not as well known benefits Deloitte may have. For eg PwC has EHE physical, wealth builder, wellness rewards/ bonuses, and other travel/ airline status benefits. Would love to know some of those for Deloitte
Is the hiring slowdown over? I contacted a few firms to inquire about lateral opportunities in late June/early July and was asked to check back in the fall due to hiring freezes. I wonder if I should reach back out or if it's too soon. The news about Skadden's staff layoffs this morning makes me think it's too soon.
Difference of thinking between HR and Employee. HR thinks why to retain existimg emplooyee with 70% hike if i get new resource in 30 % addtional cost d and employee thinks why to loose 40% if current company gives you 30 % and switching give u 70 % fact : when an employee leaves ,by seeing that employe his project members started job searching and started leaving within a year eventually hr losses for per candidate 30% . i saw it in all companies. so retain employees even with 70%

Have the option to transfer to Canada (Vancouver/Toronto/Montreal) and keep my US salary or to London at a 10% paycut. My current salary is 100K USD which will be ~65K GBP if London and ~125K CAD if Canada. Obviously my salary will go further in Canada but London sounds too cool to pass on. So my main question is: will living on 65K in London be comfortable enough that I just do it for the experience? Currently in NYC at 3 yoe and will go back to the US after 1 year for MBA. Please advise!
