Not rude, but a little uncouth.
My general rule is if it’s not rude to do it in a regular meeting it’s fine to do in a zoom meeting.
That said, you probably wouldn’t drink coffee at a pitch or a big client presentation.
Chief
Every pitch or large client presentation I’ve ever been in has had a full spread of food and coffee.
You’re clear to drink coffee in a meeting of any sort at any time, is my opinion. So long as you’re not doing something weird, you’re in the clear.
No. People would drink in an in person meeting right?
You guys are insane. I housed an Italian sandwich on a client call today, and am drinking seltzer/coffee pretty much constantly on zoom calls. I take early status calls from the shower with my laptop on the bathroom counter on mute and the camera off. You're seriously questioning whether it's appropriate to drink coffee in person?!? Have you been to an office? Sheesh. Lighten up.

I have a no bathroom zoom rule but hey, live dangerous you madman!

No. It’s coffee.
It’s not like you’re squeezing a pimple or plucking nose hairs during a Zoom meeting.
But what if you would do that during an in person meeting?
Only if your video zoom meeting was a pitch to the Anti-Coffee Coalition.
Coffee free kids - just say no!
I drink coffee and have a 2 liters water bottle that usually shows up in meetings, a huuuge bottle and I don’t care.
Glad to know I’m not the only one. I’m usually drinking my gallon of water on cam during internal meetings. 😅 I always wonder what my coworkers think.
no. dont overthink the small stuff. we’re working from home ffs
Why would this be weird?
Chief
This.
How is this a real question?
Of course, sip your beverage. Maybe don’t prep a 6-course meal and then dine on it, but yes drink, snack, whatever. Context of meeting and attendees matter.
No, pretty sure I’ve had a cup of coffee in every zoom meeting before 11:30 since the beginning of the pandemic
This question is so obvious I fear it’ll be the intro of a case study
100%. Quick and dirty research strikes again.
Me at the start of every Zoom meeting.

Not an issue in any way, unless you are planing on pouring it all over yourself like it’s a jug of Gatorade.
So long as they don’t spill it on me.
Not at all. Mute yourself when you take a sip, but it's fine.

Did y'all not drink coffee in person? I would never make it through the day if I didn't.
Pro
God, I hope not, because that means I've been very rude (and will continue to be very rude)
Drink the coffee. Ignore the nerds.
