Hi fishes! I had asked for benefits other than CTC which Bank of America provides & now that I've completed 1 month here, here's the list of allowances you'll be getting irrespective of position/band:
1. Sodexo: 1300 p.m./ 15,600 p.a.
2. Transport allowance: 900 one way, 1800 two ways p.m./ 21,600 p.a.
3. Internet: 1500 max p.m. (other than that, one time installation charges)
4. Tuition fee: Any certification related to your field. Like CFA, FRM etc. 3,00,000 p.a.

It might as well be a lateral move for you. If your only focus is more money, definitely not worth it if all other factors like vacation, benefits, bonuses etc are equal to current role. Your after tax difference is barely anything.
If there are other factors you like about that job, then maybe?

On your side, is the job better for your portfolio and resume? Hell, when I was younger and less cynical about the industry, I’d take a $5k cut if it would give me better work that I could use to advance myself. So the money is absolutely important…but what else is on the table?
On their side, who says they’re “starting the hiring process over again”? They circled you as the top candidate…doesn’t mean they don’t have a #2 or #3.
Just heard from the recruiter, they’re giving me the salary I asked for. :) Never settle for less than you’re worth! If you guys knew how low we’re talking, you’d have encouraged me to fight for the extra $5K haha.
Thank you ☺️☺️
Depends on a lot of factors tbh. Maybe if you can't get more $$$, you could ask for more vacation time/stock options/a one time signing bonus as part of the offer.
Need way more context. Why are you leaving your current place? Is new place a better opportunity for growth beside salary? Short answer is yes, they can turn you down if they have a hard number and you can’t enunciate the value added you’d bring that would be worth them reassessing, or if they just get a bad taste in their mouth about your approach to the salary negotiation.
I was told my salary expectations were beyond a band and I told them I wouldn’t take the job if that were the case. They found a way to make it work. These agencies are desperate. Play the situation! IMO $5k is absolutely not enough. $10-20k min/ jump.
5k is 100 bucks a week. I wouldn't lose a job over it.
Not really. You would think so.. but a lot of bigger companies have tight salary bands based on the candidate’s years of experience and the position.
Ah, I thought they were reacting to an initial offer. In that case, they may feel that they have other options that make it not worthwhile to bother getting approval to make an offer out of the band.
If the move puts you on faster track for advancement/raises, then yes.
If you want the job, take it. Salary is only one per of the equation. What’s the culture? How’s the work? There are things to value aside from $$$. Etc.
Sometimes it can even be worth it to accept a pay cut for the right opportunities. It all depends.
Maybe I'm old fashioned but it shouldn't be all about the money. I suggest you factor in things like, if the new role seems more interesting, what the learning/growth opportunities are like, how much you want to leave etc. That all said there is nothing wrong with negotiating.
