Its been 8 months i been working as a Technical Support Assistant. Long term i am aiming to become a Developer. Startup i am working for does provide huge platform to enhance your programming skills. Since i am new to programming, i am not sure what to do if i am unable to understand a code? What kind of questions are okay to ask your senior developer? Do you have any books or course recommendations?

Don't be a Dev, go into DevOps and make more money 👍🏻

As a dev I can attest to this, but dev ops is more to learn sooo good luck

There are no off-limits questions for your senior dev. They'll be happy you're asking and trying to learn. Google and Stack Overflow are your friends. I've been writing code for 15 years and I still have to look things up.

If you've never learned anything coding wise, I'd recommend getting a newer coding book in one of the top 3 languages and go through it. You'd learn faster and you won't have to worry about asking the basics

If you already know how to code the basics then you can ask anything tbh at the end of the day it depends on how patient the person you are asking is.

Looking for tips. College was not for me while I was young. Since then I have built a great track record at my previous job in sales, succeeded in a project manager internship, and have exceeded at the role for a year now. Unfortunately, I do not like the direction the company is headed in and want to move on. I have gazed at new companies but the lack of “education” seems to be a reoccurring obstacle. Being in the bay area competition for these roles can be a bit tough. Any tips or tricks?

If you are starting as an Audit Associate some time from now with Deloitte or any of the big 4, do they expect you to have passed/completed all 4 parts by the time you start? Received the Becker Reimbursement email from the recruiter not too long ago but have yet to start. I’ve seen plenty of people get to Senior at a big 4 firm without the CPA so I am a bit confused in that aspect. Any helpful feedback will be very much appreciated.

How do you advocate for a "level" promotion in a company that has vague unofficial descriptions of levels? I'm doing L4-5 (on standard levels, or L3 within our system) work but can't get away from the unofficial "L2".

Making 140k with 7 yrs experience in this role, and 12 prior years experience in Systems Engineering roles. I know someone on my team is at 180k with a similar career.

Fighting with my manager atm on definitions of levels and feel like its a red herring.

I recently interviewed for a really well known, mature tech company that’s revered for its great culture. I was at the last round, after over a month of communication, interviews and challenges. I couldn’t even count hours I’d already put in. Then they ghosted me. It ruined my interest in the role anyway, but I’m still extremely disappointed with how they treated me. Is there a way to give them that feedback? And is it even worth it anyway?
