It’s Sunday and I am already dreading the work week ahead. I know I need to make a change but I am worried about the current job market and taking a risk by leaving. I think I want to move away from healthcare but don’t know what else I would do and I don’t have the energy after work to take classes or try to learn new skills. If you have successfully made a career pivot to a new field, how did you manage it?

Misled on Maternity Leave Policy. I found out I only get 4 weeks pay for maternity leave (STD +“sick days”). I will take 12 weeks but wont get paid for 8 weeks. I work for a US, west coast based company in the tech/VC industry. Their website claims to offer “paid parental leave and other progressive benefits for parents”. I didn’t find out until after I was hired their pay was only 8 weeks but since I have been at the company less than 12 months, I don’t qualify for their policy. Is this unfair?

HR opinion: Do I have any leverage as a hospital nurse case manager in negotiating earned time?
