I got H1B Visa and 83000 USD dollar petition amount as annual package.I am confused as this amount will be enough to survive there with wife and 7 year old daughter. My wife is working here and together we are earning 50LPA annual. We are settled here by owning house too.Confusion is my wife will not be able to work there on H4 Visa so the kind of life we are living here will not be possible there.Thoughts?Suggestions?Pros and Cons?

Fully remote and respectable comp for the win!
This sounds perfect!! Congrats on the new role!!
Sounds like a terrible mistake. You should back out. And so that you don't leave them empty handed, you can tell them you found a replacement and give them my name instead. You'll owe me one, of course.
You don't sound crazy. You sound stark-raving sane. And you are using the language of someone embarking on an adventure, which is awesome. Happy for you.
This sounds awesome! You will be glad that you have time to prioritize things outside your careers that are likely way more personally fulfilling. Good luck!
Congrats! No advice, just wanted to say this sounds great. Enjoy prioritizing things besides work!
Unless you are super bougie where a title is important to you I’d say this is a fantastic deal!
That sounds amazing! All the best!
Dream!! Congrats!!!
I am looking at similar opportunities and have similar experience, and I agree with others that this sounds like a great setup. I would just caution you that people with this type of position can find themselves working substantially more hours for the same pay. I even know a part-time counsel who billed 2000 hours last year but saw no adjustment in pay. They won’t promise to stick to 1800, but they might promise to pay you more if you substantially exceed those hours. So just consider papering this contingency if possible.
Smart! Good luck.
As a biglaw 5th year litigation associate that billed 2,250 in 2021, some type of 80% (1800 billables) career associate track at 300k+ is currently my dream job (subject to change of course!)
It sounds awesome! Location and lifestyle have a lot of value to them too.
Congrats!!! Enjoy the new adventure. Family and health are much more important.
Appreciate everyone’s generally “pro” feedback. Thanks.
Came to say, this is the track I chose rather than going for partner and I’m very glad I did. Basically the best deal you can get in biglaw to have a semblance of WLB and good comp.
The no BD expectation is also a good benefit. I end up writing some articles and speaking on topics that interest me and are good for continuing to develop my reputation, but don’t feel compelled to volunteer for lots of non billable initiatives.
A literal dream. Unfathomable for my third year practicing brain lol
Sounds like a great job to me! Great comp and remote. Yes, please!
